Food for allergies The vets think my 8 year old yorkie might have food allergies along with being hypothyroid. We are treating the thyroid, but they suggested changing the diet as well. He seems to lick his feet alot, although he does not usually itch at all. His skin is sort of pinkish, so they thought maybe it was due to some food allergy. In any event they suggested these Solid gold holistic blen fish Natural bal fish & potato Royal Canin FIsh I have always fed him purina, these are all new to me. can someone tell me if theses are all ok or if there are better ones out there. Thanks, Tuffys Mom |

If I had to choose one of these it would be Natural Balance. |

foods There are lots of good foods made for dogs that are allergic. Sometimes you may have to try to eliminate different ingredients. I am in the process of starting mine on Eagle Pack right now and they make several that are good for allergies. Go to eagle pack.com and click on product selector. It doesn't saound like you are dealing with severe allergies or maybe not food allergies at all. Good luck |

i like solid gold and natural balance. i currently feed solid gold wee bits. you need a food that has rare proteins in it like fish, venison, duck, bison or rabbit. your yorkies system isn't familiar with these proteins so its less likely to be allergic. stay away from chicken, turkey, beef, and lamb. |

I see that all these foods sugggested have great socres and ratings, but should i be worried about the recalls? |

food allergies Mallory was diagnosed with food allergies about 2 months ago. She was constantly licking and nibbling at her feet, but no itching. She developed a yeast and bacterial infection on her belly. My vet recommended a few hypoallergenic foods and the one she likes the best is IAMS Vet Formula Skin and Coat. She likes it, but i have to cut the kibble in half. I've spoiled her and she will only eat little bites of food and treats.:animal-pa |
