I really want to put this on the General Forum but I don't want to cause the Mods any problems ... Has anyone ever heard or used this product: http://www.rescueremedy.com/pets/ ? Download the .pdf to read the whole thing ... All natural, yada, yada ... use when needed, yada, yada ... One of my pups is afraid to ride in the car. He shakes and yawns and ends up panting, even if we hold him. I definitely don't want to tranq him, so I wondered if this may be a good alternative until he learns that car rides can be fun. OH! They also have a version for humans, too ;) :D |
good morning,, i have one yorkie , Daisy,, who exhibited the same symptoms,, just a ride to the vet office maybe 5 miles away,, she would be soaked in drool,, or Petsmart for an outing, 3 miles,, same thing,, i have heard of rescue remedy but did not try it,, i tried the Comfort Zone spray which seemed to help only slightly,, but she would still be just pitiful and throwing up,, until we got her on Cerenia (RX),, she does great on trips now, but i only give her the RX now for our long trips,, for short ones,, i use Bonine (OTC human medicine),, 1/2 tablet,, as their vet suggested i try, works so well,, and once she doesnt get sick,,she is learning ot enjoy the outings,, still she is way more excited than the other girls,, but no more drooling and tossin her cookies,, and on our long trips,, they all mostly just sleep good luck getting your baby used to riding!!:) |
And good morning to you, too :) ! He doesn't get sick, he just shakes. And pants .... and yawns (he has a l-o-n-g tongue  ). He's such a TANK the rest of the time (brave, indestructable ...) that it's quite pathetic to see him like that (such a wussie  ) The Cerenia ... that's a prescription? |

yes,, sounds exactly like what poor Daisy would do,, pitiful,, i dreaded trying to take her ANYWHERE!! she would shake til you thought she'd break her teeth,, and pants and DROOL like a mad dog,, and yep,, the monster tongue YAWN thing,, and she took is like Monster Dog tough,, then she would finally throw up,,(which took her awhile to work up to),, 20 to 40 miles worth of riding,, and we make a lot of trips home which is 235 miles one way,, sooooooooo,, something had to be done,, i got her Content EM and it helped only slightly,, very slightly,, and had to give it to her for days prior to going anywhere,, when the Vet said they have a new RX that should help,, that was when we tried Cerenia, and i swear by it!!! she is even getting to where she is excited to GO and seems to enjoy ,though she is still MUCH more excited than Cricket or Trixie,, as in animated,, but no more drooling,, shaking,, yawning,, and tossin her cookies,, and like i say i recently tried Bonine (MUCH cheaper),, and drove them all around on tuesday of this week, probably a 30 mile ride ,in traffic,, and she was fine,, still excited ,, but nothing like she used to be,, no drooling etc,, i really hated that drooling,, bless her bones!! |
I know someone whose yorkie was terrified of the groomers and she tried rescue remedy. She said it had absolutely no effect. Ramsey is a nervous nellie when she's frightened. She pants and shakes too. She does this at the vet's office, when we go to the groomers, and any type of firework (or firework type of sound). When she was a puppy car rides scared her but she's gotten past that now...probably because she goes to in the car every day with me to work. I'd suggest taking him in the car frequently even if it's only trips around the block. |
My sister uses it with her dog. She loves it. |
