shots and deworming Im taking Leo to the vet in 3weeks for his next shot.I have a question tough, the breeder did the last shot and deworming on feb9th. i have his health record so i will be taking that with me to the vet. im just concerned about his loose stools.does he maybe have worms? the breeder said few loose stools are ok.but i should watch him i just want him to be healthy maybe i should take him to the vet for a checkup sooner |
I wouldn't worry about taking him in sooner. Just bring a stool sample by the vet's and they'll run a fecal test. If he has worms, they can treat it when you come in. Worms are no biggie. :) |
This is funny because I was thinking of how serious are worms for a dog. I thought my lab had a case of worms recently because when I was cleaning the yard I saw some stool with some stringy objects in it. He was treated at petco by the vet for worms Now the local vet is saying that the treatment that pet co gives isnt good enough AND THAT WORMS ARE VERY SERIOUS? They even had scared me to death by saying my kids could catch this? I let him do a stool sample and it was negative. the vet is still suggesting that both of my dogs take a deworming treatment I wonder is this right? |

If you're concerned about your lab, I'd do another fecal sample in a couple of weeks. If he tests negative for them, then he doesn't have worms! If he does, then you can treat him. Some worms can be passes from dogs to humans but it's rare and can be prevented by practicing good hygiene.. like washing your hands after handling feces, washing your hands after playing with the dog, before eating, etc. |
