HI everyone, i got a question for all of you, have anybody here have tried EUKANUBA before?? is it really good for the coat? i was about to change to Royal Canin, but some of you guys said that it could mess up the stomach. and plus the price WOW!! to much money for to little in the bag!! there is no problem with COCO my yorkie, but PEKO my shih tzu eats alot!! (i think he is going on a diet) so what you guys think?

Hello! :D Well, unfortunately, I think EUK is a terrible food - chock full of allergens and fillers, plus they were busted for animal cruelty in thier testing on dogs. Ick. Not a big fan of the RC either - known fo causing lots of itchies. (sorry :))

What about Canidae, Wellness, Natures Variety, Evangers, Orijen, California Natural etcetera? Are you in Avodale, AZ?

Yes i'm in Avondale,AZ. Where can I find Canidae?, I went to look for it at Petsmart but they don't have it. Where do you buy yours, or what do you feed yours?

Canidae is a really good food. Riley was on Eukanuba for a while until I found out how bad it was. Lots of vets will even say that its supposedly a great food. It has lots of by products in it. Riley is on Canidae now and he loves it. Heres a link that will help you with your dog food. Normally a 4 or 5 star food is best.

i have always fed Eukanuba. i live far away from pet stores so it is the best available to me. My dogs have thrived on it and none have any skin problems or anything else from eating it. I feed ALL mine puppy food.

Eukanuba is under the procter and Gamble unbrella.

Eukanuba contains bi-products......plus the animals they test their food on live in terrible conditions! I'm not a vegan.....but you can go to peta.com and see the investigation they did! I feed Royal Canin and my Yorkie hasn't had any problems.....she loves it and he weight is perfect! I portion it acording to the bag so it lasts a long time!

If you don't have any pet suppy store that carry some of these good brands of kibble you can "google" and find sites that sell it. Some member may have suggestions on sites that have the best prices.

I also feed Royal Canin and my babies love it and they are doing great with it :)

Yes, Eukanuba is part of the regular diet for mine and I am very pleased with the results. I know several people who feed the YT blend and rave about it. As far as the by-products and fillers...most dog foods DO have those. (I won't get into the 'animal cruelty' claims compliements of PETA as that can be a hot topic and not everyone has the same view on that.;) ) Like many others, Royal Canin really did a number on the tummies in this house.:(
If you are wanting it for improving the coat, you may want to consider some supplements as well...Flax Oil, Glucosamine are great and have other healthy benefits too. I know that lots use Missing Link and are satisfied with the results.
You really just have to experiement and find what is best for your dog. When you have found the right product, the results will be clear and you will know you've found a winner.

solid gold all the way, no corn, wheat soy salt sugar no aniaml fat no preservatives and customer service is great and people can order it at petco as well. I read something the other day about innova and canidaie finding tylenol in it, no for me, look into it.

I don't personally feed Eukanuba, but my Tatum's breeder (a show breeder) also SWEARS by this food. She has been breeding for many, many years and has always fed it. I know many here hate the food and don't feed it to their babies, but she swears that all of her babies that eat this have absolutely no health problems, have excellent skin & coat, have no itchies and none are over or under weight and she free feeds. She said that most show breeders feed this (or alot of them anyway) and I know this is true. She also told me that she doesn't care what anyone says about it, or about how great any other food is...but that she will always continue to feed it to her babies as she has absolutely WONDERFUL results with it.

It is just amazing how there are so many different opinions about this food :)

I tried EVERY super premium dog food under the sun: canidae, merricks, diamond, innova, wellness, and nature's variety raw, plus several others I can't remember as well as homecooking. Chloe did NOT do well on any of them. In fact, she would not eat, and lost lots of weight.

Eukanuba was one of those that never even occurred to me to try. Until I babysat a fellow YT member's yorkie who was fed Eukanuba. Chloe ate hers and so I ran out and bought a bag. Ever since, she has put on just the right amout of weight. She looks great, and she is doing very well.

Some foods can be the greatest in the world, and if your dog won't eat it, then it does no good.

I tend to disbelieve many of the scare tactics put out by lots of websites that claim to tell the "truth" about many dogfoods.

I've also seen a lot of people get into really heated debates over what they feed their dogs. I stay away from those.

I just wanted to add that I, too, feed Eukanuba (yorkie variety) and Chloe is doing beautifully.

I was feeding Eukanuba and my babies were all doing well, then i heard it was so bad for them, So i switched to royal caine, I talked with my vet about both foods and he said i should of never switched, So now i have to wean then back off the RC and going back to eukanuba..you deff get more for your money and i had no problems with it, and they offer coupons from there website;)

I always preferred Science Diet..and they make a great reduced formula if you needs to keeps pounds off..I have also had to use the prescription food as well and it worked great and shelby loved it..:)
