If you couldn't do Raw or Home cook......
 
..........what kibble would you feed and why?

I wouldn't feed kibble. I'd feed canned.;)

But if I had to pick a kibble it might be Wellness unless they add onion (or garlic) to it like they do their treats...then forget that one. I don't mind the ingredients in Wellness.....Today at least.:rolleyes: My list always changes.

I would also consider Canidae and Cal. Natural (if my confidence builds in the company soon) because I like the ingredients. I know I am forgetting a couple.

There are TONS of "premium" foods that I wouldn't consider feeding. That would be an easier list for me to make.

If I absolutely HAD to feed kibble, I'd feed Innova Evo.

Why canned over kibble?

It is one step less process and if they are getting their moisture in the food, they don't have to drink as much. Most dogs only drink when they really need to, so it is enforcing the issue.:)

What about Grain Free food? That would have to be better then food w/grains correct?

I can't do raw or homecooked right now, and I do feed kibble. I feed Taste of the Wild which is grain free. I'm by no means a dog food expert but it looks good to me and the dogs do well on it.

It depends who you ask. I wouldn't feed a Yorkie grain free food if I had to give an answer right now.

When I don't feed Reese raw, I feed her Orijen 6 Fresh Fish. She has tons of allergies and this food is the only one I can find that has ingredients that she can have. It was hard for me to find, and a little pricey, but worth it! I sometimes add a little water to the kibble to moisten it up, but the kibble itself seems to have some moisture in it as well.

i would feed Wellness... i also like the ingredients.. and they have a nice variety of types... includeing one for a sensitive tummy... they use rare meat forms which is i like for Layla's allergies... but i would also feed canned...at least one meal anyways...

Orijen and NV Instinct is what I give mine to supplement. Both are grain free.

It isn't so much that I think dogs need grains, it is that I don't like the thought of overfeeding protein. And I know a wolf's diet is almost all protein but they also eat things like bone and wild mice, so I don't try to feed a wolf's diet to Ellie. I do not believe that high protein has ever been shown to cause kidney problems but I am on the fence about the whole thing until I know high protein isn't causing other problems.

The fromms grain free only has 30% protien
