is there any way that you can find out if your city or town has problems with the desiases? thanks |
i will try to do some research on that today :-) and get back to you |
This is what i got from the Broward County Animal Care and Regulation Website Rabies Vaccination Required for Cats and Dogs, Section 4-10 You must have dogs and cats four months and older vaccinated against rabies every year by a licensed veterinarian. The law provides for vaccination excuses when: the dog or cat has been vaccinated against rabies within the past 12 months by a veterinarian licensed to practice in any state; or if a licensed veterinarian certifies in writing that a vaccination would be injurious to the Animal’s health. The Animal must be vaccinated against rabies as soon as its health permits. Is there another website i should consult? What is lepto a vac. for exactly? Also, I am exempt from this rabies vac as of now bc Bindi is still under 4 months correct? do vets normally push the rabies vacs on pups under 4 months? thanks again :) :) |
I am SO glad I live in Michigan. We have to vaccinate for rabies by 4 months (try to get the vet to agree to wait til 6) and then one year later and then every THREE years. I wouldn't be happy with the every year thing. It makes me so mad when I think that they do not need it every year but are forced to get it. It is not a good vaccine. I think Michigan's law still requires too much. Now that I am done venting, it is hard to find where lepto is a problem. Ellie's vet's website has info for our area of Michigan. Lepto is a bacteria that you can pick up through infected rodent urine or around farm animals. Slow moving water is a perfect spot for it to thrive. It can effect the kidneys, liver and blood and the disease can be fatal. |

Yes, technically Bindi is exempt from the rabies vaccine. I don't think the vets will push the Rabies vaccine for a puppy under 4 months.. Franklin was 4.5 months when he got his. I would wait if I were you. |
