ADVICE - Neuter & Baby Teeth Here is my situation: I have two babies. Roxy is 7 months/3 weeks. She is be spayed as we speak. She has lost 3 baby teeth in the past 2 weeks, but she is having approx. 9 more pulled today as well. TJ is 5 months/2 weeks old. I am planning on getting neutered but I was thinking about waiting to see about his teeth (just b/c of Roxy's situation with her baby teeth). BUT... 1. He is not 100% potty trained (wee wee pads), and that's ok. It is not an easy thing to do when you have 2 babies and you work full time! Lately I have found him peeing pretty much where ever he wants (he does also use the pads quite often :) 2. He used to go way down, now when he pees, he just stands there and 'kinda' leans a little into the pad (or floor, etc...) 3. He has been licking himself sooooooooo much! 4. Sometimes he will walk and pee at the same time (this is usually under the table). 5. Last night he peed on their blanket that was lying on their little bed, and he did it again this morning to a clean blanket I had put out for them on their little bed. I just caught the end of him doing it. He had one leg ontop of the bed and the other leg on the floor. So this morning before I left to bring Roxy to the Vet, I inspected his teeth and I really think they are all still his baby teeth. The bottom front ones don't even look like they are all the way out of the gums and he doesn't have the two top ones. I have to look at those again, can he have lost those 2 already or are they making their way out still? So my deilema is should I wait or not. My gut feeling is telling me to make an appt. for him next Friday. B/c of his pee behavior and b/c it seems that his adult teeth are nowhere near ready. And I don't even know if he would have the same double row thing as Roxy. And it still could be a few months before that could happen. I just don't want his behavior to get worse, but I also don't want him to have surgery again for the teeth thing. I need some advice please? |
I don't know if I have great advise...but Maximsu is about the same age..and lost like 8 teeth in the last 3 days OUT OF NOWHERE...he started humping and so either way (toothloss or not) I had made an appt. a month ago to take him to the vet (tommorrow) to schedule his laser neutering...I was gonna wait also but I was given great advice and told now is better then later!! |
Good Luck and an Speedy Recovery Maximus... I definately hear what you are saying, now is better than later and that is what my gut feeling is telling me. WOW 8 teeth!!!! I am going to check TJ's teeth again when I get home. He is constantly biting and chewing, so maybe he did loose those top 2 front teeth already. |
