Karma Organic food Has anyone tried this brand of food? My dogs eat California Natural and they're made by the same company, so im thinking of switching because it is 95% Organic. |
This looks like a great food. The ingredient list doesn't list garlic which is the problem with Innova. I would consider this food if I had to feed Ellie kibble. It is low protein though. |
The only thing is, salt is a bit high on the list. Too much salt is not good, but not enough sodium is not good either. It is personal preference, I guess. |

For example, if I had been feeding Ellie beef, chicken and turkey and she became allergic to all of them, I could then fall back on duck, venison, rabbit... because she hasn't had them before. If you feed grains, I would do the same. It is good to rotate too (which may help prevent allergies) but it isn't good to use all grains known to man because if they become allergic to all of them, you are stuck.:) |

SO, even though NV is such a complete diet in and of itself - I've been tinkering w/ the idea that perhaps he is acquiring an allergy here due to lack of variety...? (he's back on his hypo-allerg. fish diet x 1wk and, of course, voila). Not to go off-topic here - but it is a lesson in variety, perhaps.... |

It is hard telling. I know that I will switch foods up because I think it is so much healthier. Now Ellie's nutritionist encourages homecookers to do this for variety but I don't think she says to switch when you feed kibble. I know there is lots of info on the web about acquiring food allergies after constant exposure but the nutritionist says if you keep changing kibble you will be seriously limited if there is a problem later. That is why I find a happy middle ground and avoid exotic meat for now in case we need it someday. I wouldn't want to feed that stuff anyway.:p If his IBD issues are back, I would have no idea if the two are connected but I would do just what you did and go back to his old diet for now. If he is getting the itchies, the lamb would be in the trash.:) |

My head is spinning for you. It makes no sense that all of a sudden lamb would do this to him. Join the club though. We know all about mystery illnesses here. |
So i bought it and im feeding it to them now and so far they all like it. I can even tell a diff. in the color and texture of it, compared to calif. natural. It's all organic ingredients and even smells better. |
