Its official .. we're on a DIET!! Atleast for Aubrey, he went to the Vet yesterday for his yearly checkup and he needs to loose atleast 5 lbs, hes already started having problems with his knees:( So Its hard to feed them both seperate, but Im going to have to because of the amounts that each of them need to eat. I have also started to put green beans in there food the doctor said that will help him loose weight and make him think that hes full. Another thing that Im doing instead of always giving him a buddy biscuit, we're cutting back a little bit and Im giving him carrots instead. Just a few a day.. So hopefully a month from now we will be able to see some changes. He weighed in at 19 lbs yesterday   she said that he needs to be back around 14 were he was this time last year. So wish us luck! |
It's so good to hear from you.:) Ellie will take some of that weight.:p |
Lol. Thanks, I haven't been on in a while. I'll have to keep eveeryone posted on how hes doing. |
I also give Buddy green beans in his meals and just want to pass this info on that I read somewhere. Always cook the greenbeans first before feeding them to your pet. They have a wax like substance on them and that needs to be cooked off before feeding. I put the frozen ones in the mico wave, add alittle water and cook for 3-4mins. Leave them in the refrig and cut them up in his food or give as a treat. Bud is 15lbs and solid muscle. I have also seen lite treats/all natural of course. Good luck to your baby. |
good luck!! Kayah needs to diet also.. but she only needs to lose about 3 pounds |

thanks I did not know that, now im going to have to cook them. |
i give lexi green beans everyday,, i run them under hot water to also get the salt off them.. |
Good luck. My 11 yr old Mini Schnauzer was just diagnosed with diabetes. She has to have insulin 2X a day. She is VERY overweight she weighs 21lbs (should be 15)ooops. It seems cute to have a fat dog, but it really is bad for them. My mini stayed with my parents when I moved, but I still consider her mine. They put her on free feed, so she blew up like a balloon! I feel bad, but she has already lost 2lbs, so they are getting her all better! |
Been wondering about the green bean thing---cooked or frozen. I've heard say to give frozen because the dogs absolutely love it. Been trying it but will stop and cook the beans first. Also use the "no salt" canned ones when I am too late to cook the frozen ones. (Before I started feeding frozen.) What about peas and carrots? One thread said that peas are too high in calories-sugar. Somewhere I read that you have to cook the carrots because a dog can't digest the raw ones. There's so much conflicting information out there. Joanne :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :dog: |
Lettuce, bell peppers and celery are good also. |
