I am so sorry to hear about Tara, but I am pleased Penny is doing so well. I don't have any experience of the SD you are feeding Penny, but I did have prescription SD with my Max when he was very ill and it helped him at the time. My two I have now used to have NUTRO now I am changing them to Arden Grange. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE FED ARDEN GRANGE ? All the best with Penny. |

I'm so sorry about Tara.:( Kidney problems make me very nervous. Did the vet recommend putting Penny on this food with no history of problems? K/D is extremely low in protein. It is so low that I wonder if it can effect the other organs adversely? Did the vet say it is safe to feed a healthy dog this food? I have read that they should get 18-20% minimum for a healthy dog. |
I had never heard of Arden Grange before you mentioned it. I went to their website. It seems to be a great dog food & you should try it out. It is available in alot of countrys - just not in the USA. The Nutro foods that you feed have Corn Gluten - I would stay away from Corn. Good Luck, Kim |
Thanks, I agree I should stay away from Corn. When I first joined YT I read so many many posts on food, as Teddy was only a baby then, and the breeder was feeding him an awful food. The ONLY one I could get at the time that was mentioned on here was NUTRO so I went for it. But he has a sickness problem at present you will see that if you read any of my other posts. So I am changing his food. The Arden Grange is very similar to Nutro just no Corn in the Premium I am feeding Teddy. We can now get Canidae in ONE place in the UK, so if the Arden Grange doesn't suit him, I may try that. Many Speak highly of Canidae on here. But then what suits some doesn't suit others. Thanks again for your very welcome comments. Diana x |

I would change his food to a better quality food just incase. here is the link to Kylee's thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=116183 |
Hi isn't it (puzzling!) I will read that whole thread thank you. It is so difficult in the UK to get most of the great foods you have. I will read the post now.... :) |
How is he doing? |
Hi Ellie May I have read so many of your posts. Teddy hasn't been sick for 2 days - I hope it is the food. The other thing the vet has said is it maybe the muscle at the bottom of the stomach, that is at the top of the intestines. I will have to look for the name of it as I have forgotten. If the food doesn't stop the sickness, I will have him scoped so we can tell if it is this muscle at fault. Although I don't know why it wouldn't of caused these problems until he was 17 months old, if it is the muscle. Very odd isn't it? I really appreciate your support. I have told my family how good you are. :aimeeyork :animal36 :) |
That's great news.:) Doesn't the vet think this medicine is just covering up symptoms though? Quote:

I think that the meds are coving up the root cause, as you would say " Sticking a band aid over it " I haven't given him the tablets as I am convinced it is not the answer I want to get the the reason. So I am seeing if it is the food, I won't know if I am giving him anti - sickness drugs, I wouldn't know if they were working or the change in food was or both. So I am only changing his food. The longest we have gone is 2 days with no sickness, we almost got to 3 days and then he was sick. Today, Friday will be the third day if we get him through it, and that will be the best in 4 weeks. I don't like treating just the symtoms, only temorarily, but I don't believe it is the real answer. The vet would have to refer him somewhere else for a scope and an operation if it is that muscle I mentioned. So all he can give him is drugs. So the attirude the vet has is our answer is medicine not surgery (ONLY BECAUSE THEY CAN'T DO THE SURGERY) However, that is only relevant if it is this muscle and that is only a suggestion at this stage. |
Did you see the thread in general discussion about Nutro and vomiting? It seems Nutro (in the US at least) has made lots of dogs very sick. |

Hi Ellie May, No I didn't is it a very old thread, I will try and find it. The good news is Teddy is now off Nutro and I have had the first day without sickness and no medication. The longest he has gone before is 2 days but that was with meds. It may be the Nutro. You are a real star you are so helpful ... I will see if I can find this thread .... Diana x Teddy :animal36 |
