raw beef i'm making beef barley soup for dinner in my slow cooker and romeo is going insane over the beef. i gave him a tiny raw sample to satisfy him. is raw beef dangerous to yorkies?? i thought if people can digest rare meat dogs should be ok. |
a lot of dogs only eat raw meat... its just fine for him! as long as the meat is lean beef... you just want to watch the fat content |
Can I just give Franklin little pieces of raw meat I'm using to cook dinner or is raw only okay if it's pre-packaged/especially made for dogs? I'm going to eventually switch over to raw when he's older and it's a little more economically feasible... I want to see if he'd actually eat it. Is this okay? |
romeo luved the raw beef. it was the first time i ever let him have it. it was ranchers reserve premium beef. |
there are a few mommies here that feed raw... I think it ok but they will know better:) I want some of that soup:p |
its perfectly fine to eat raw beef. ground beef alone isn't a good diet but what your giving him is fine. |
Aren't you supposed to freeze it first? |
Raw meat is fine for dogs...Lacy has been eating raw for over a year and a half. I do feed a pre-packaged raw because of convenience but many people feed a prey-model raw diet. |

Yep, beef is great for them. :) Mine are eating prey model after eating pre made frozen for quite a while. I buy the dogs food and freeze it just cause I buy enough to last a while, but I have also fed fresh. Dogs have enzymes in their tummies that can handle way more than humans can.:) |
Raw beef do you cook that or actually giving them raw without cooking it? I was giving Chelsea beef heart, liver, tongue and lamb with veggie and brown rice all cooked, she loves sweet potatoes with granny apples too. But, I'm trying to switch to Innov dog food because of their teeth, and was afraid I wasn't giving her the vitamins and mineral required. Her poop was always black and semi hard, just right and she only goes poop once a day |
Nope, not cooked, raw. It looses a lot of it's food value when it is cooked. Home cooked is probably better than kibble though.:) Dogs actually do not NEED veggies and fruit and grains in their diets. They are carnivoires.:) |
