how do you keep the poop off of there butt I have a yorkie and i try to keep her shaved but it is very hard to shave around her butt and sometimes the poop gets stuck on or butt how can i stop that LOL... thanks for any help |
Suffering from the same thing with Zoey. I ended up scissoring the hair by the other sides of her hiney. So the regular spots are shaved down but I also trimmed the hair down by the sides of her cheeks...I was starting to call her Miss Dingle Berry. Jeeeze it was getting a bit much. She is so small and lazy that I think she sits too low down and that is what causes the problem when she goes poop. |
I cut the hair with rounded scissors...then every day when I brush them, I comb back there to make sure there is nothing hanging on! I also wipe them after they go potty! This was nice and clean fur butts!!! |
You do have to keep it shaved - not too close, though. Then you just keep some wipes available and check for dingleberries! |
I just keep a small package of baby wipes handy and just clean up as soon after he's pottied as I can. (It's hard to get off once it dries.) |
keep the butt hair trimmed lol |
Trimming and using baby wipes is the best way to go! |

I too have the same problems with poo hanging from the butt, I always try to wipe him when he comes in, and too I try to keep his butt hair nice and trim but he really don't like that much!!!!!! I am sure he hates me messing with his butt all the time... |
Trimming and using baby wipes is the best way to go:) and I also wash her little butty once a way with warm water.... Sometimes it gets messy:eek: |
My 2 get that too, even though they get butt cuts :D When Rosi gets something caught on her butt, she comes running to me and turns around and looks at me like she wants to say : Mom please wipe my butt, its soo funny :D |
i keep the hair short there and i use doggy wipes also |
I hope no one thinks i am weird for asking for a pic of your babies hinny  but does anyone have a pic of how short and how much hair is supposed to be trimmed around the backside area i need to do Sam's but i don't want to mess up and cut to much off  |
I've always tried to keep that area shaved... Meka recently went to the groomer for the first time, and she did a little better than I was doing. I also, make sure to check/wipe her butt after she goes potty... I cant handle finding "gifts" and its because of this that she's not allowed on our bed... Until it gets better anyway :) |
I would be careful with the shaving. The groomer shaved my son's dog too close and it caused a nasty infection. I prefer trimming close with scissors every couple of weeks. I think it looks better too. |
I usually just hold his tail so that he doesn't wriggle too much and cut as much fur as I can with scissors. Using scissors is safer than using clipper on the butt I would think. I clip the fur on the sides (the butt cheek) using a moustache clipper though keeping it short and neat. When I do this, his face seems to say "Your messing with my butt again Mommy?" :D |
Like others said, I keep Madeleine trimmed and use baby wipes. If Madeleine ever has a little poppy left behind she freaks out until I get it off! |
The breeder told me never to shave Kayla's butt. She said to just trim all around the edges and we have never had a problem. Even with my schnauzers I have started to just scissor because Mandy has really sensitive skin and I have caused her to really be red and I know hurt like heck from shaving. |
I trim it all up with scissors, why can't we shave there? Seems like it would be easier and quicker. (I can't figure out how to use my clippers yet anyway lol) I must be trimming ok because I don't really have much issue with dingles but Bella just had a bout with diarrhea and that was a nightmare of dingles. I had to wash her booty daily, and her feet... and her bedding.... ey ey ey |
