Orijen.... I finally went this weekend and bought the trial size of Orijen...Sasha has only (to my knowledge) at 5 bites and 2 of which she spit out...If she doesn't come around this week I will definitely be doing homecooked...I looked for the supplements but the kinds they had were powder and I had never heard them mentioned on here |
What are the names of the supplements? |
I Don't Rememeber I Know They Were In A White Jar With A Gold Wrapper And Black Writing...i Was Looking For The Balance It |
I don't know which one it would be. I use BalanceIT K (for health problems). |
What Should I Use Then...she Is Healthy Other Than Her Allergies |
Balance has several different supplements. The only one I like is the K because it is the only one without menadione in it, I believe. This should only be used for medical problems though... If you don't mind the menadione, then the regular BalanceIt is a good option. Quite a few people here Dr. Pitcairn's Healthy Powder. This recipe can be found in Dr. Pitcairn's book. I'm not really sure that it is something I would use, but you could look into it. You could consult a nutritionist and ask them what to use. There is also the option of finding a calcium/phosphorus supplement (like bone meal) and using that and then adding a multi vitamin. The problem with this is you don't know if everything is balanced. Most vitamin supplements for dogs were made to add to kibble that is already full of vitamins, therefore, it isn't nearly concentrated enough for homemade diets. |

this is so confusing...I really want to try homecooked but I am starting to rethink it...I would feel horrible if I weren't giving her what she needed and correctly...itsjust so much to choose from and dos and don'ts |
i know one was new pro or something and california something:confused: |
A lot of people are satisfied with Dr. Pitcairn's Healthy Powder. Why don't you try that? |

If you are overwhelmed but really want to do it, talk to a nutritionist. They are a big help.:) |
I bought a trial size of Orijen for my furbaby too...and he won't even eat it! |
I use the Healthy Powder Mix for my healthy maltese, and she does great with it....It contains many of the vitamins and minerals that she needs without having to give it in pill form. It's always best to get nutrients from a food source if possible. The nutritional yeast provides the b-vitamins and iron, lecithin provides the linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acids), kelp provides trace minerals, and calcium to balance the phosphorus levels in yeast and lecithin. This information is all from Dr. Pitcairn's book... I choose not to use the vitamin C, since it's not required... I also add vitamin E to each recipe. Once you mix up the powder once, you will have enough for several months. |
so everyday you mix this powder into theor meals...howmuch exactly do you use? Also, you are making your own powder mix? |
