Help! Royal Canin making Peppermint sick I switched Peppermint from Iams to Royal Canin because a lot of people told me it was great, but now I think it's making him sick. I give him a tiny bit of can food, and then the royal canin. Has anyone else had problems with this food? Any other suggestions? |
I dont like that food it gave Chachi the itchies |
It has given several Yorkies (including mine) the itchies. Some even get digestive upset from it. I never recommend it... |
By the way, welcome to YorkieTalk.:) |
I tried it and Bella was sensitive to it, she ended up with diarrhea and a bit of blood in her stool. I had recently switched to Taste of the Wild and same thing happened, she doesn't seem to do well with high protein foods. Right now we are back to Blue Buffalo, I might just stick with it since it is one I know she can tolerate but I would really like to have a better food. |
If you do decide to switch foods.. I would do it very gradually... like maybe over a week and a half span. Most people don't like Royal Canin.. but please also don't put her back on Iams. There are a lot of much much better foods out there. www.dogfoodanalysis.com has non-biased reviews of foods. Look in the Premium (4-6 star) sections. And welcome to YT! :D |
Sometimes the dry food swells in their tummy. Have you tried soaking it. My yorkie is on Canin yorkie food and she is fine. I thought she was a bit over weight but vet says she is same as last year so thats OK. |
Look into solid gold, chester loves it and it is good food |
Thanks for all the suggestions. I will have to do my homework on what is best for Peppermint. |
Yeah mine used to eat RC before I found this site...it's a horrible food and it made them itch and flake like crazy. They eat Innova now, and there are several other good ones that people here use as well. |
It is finding one in the Uk thats the trouble! |

By the way she Currently is Eating The Puppy #33.... |
Bella got RC for the entire first year of her life. She loved it. But I was on the search for something better. We now use The Honest Kitchen which is dehydrated raw food. All human grade ingredients. It s a great concept. Bella loves it. But I see no difference in her. I just hope at the end of her life she will have less joint pain and will feel better! I also feed Innova kibble. I keep this down in case she gets hungry while i am away. Seems to be working! She goes thru a small bowl every 3 days or so. |

Most of the food you mention is not available in the Uk. I love the kibble down in case she gets peckish through the day. I used to do this with my yorkies but as I now have an sheepie it wouldnt last long. http://forum.oes.org/images/avatars/...b2ad0bb8f5.jpgonly play fighting honestly |
