Nail clipping
 
I took Zoe and Lizzie to get their nails trimmed and it cost me almost $23.00:eek: . I am in shock!!! Usually the nails get trimmed when they get groomed. But its been so flippen cold here that I don't want them groomed yet. Does anyone else think this is outrageous? How much does everyone pay for that or am I the only one too chicken to cut them myself.

I went to Petsmart and They washed, trimmed his nails, brushed his teeth and his ears for $9.99 I thought that was an awesome price, and they do a really good job.

Out vet charged me $10 for Ruby's once. I decided to do it myself after that. I already trim the cats so thought it can't be that hard to do.....HAHAHA....famous last words.....I had never done a yorkies before:rolleyes: We are getting better at it each time but it hasn't been easy.

They are so quick with their feet, I'm afraid I will cut them too short...

I tried to trim Franklin's nails myself but it became a huge ordeal and was wayy too difficult. Now we take him to our vet's groomer. They charge $5 for a wash, dry, and nail clipping. It's very reasonable.

It took them maybe 30 seconds for each dog...no wash and no dry...:mad:

That is really outrageous. Try calling around and finding the best price? I know how hard it can be to trim their nails yourself.

I pay $15 for one baby, they clip nails, ears and shave her behind.

Tricksie's nails are solid black, the Vet showed them to me and said that you have to be so careful, I will pay to have it done.

I used to pay $15 just to have my yorkie's nails cut. That was in downtown Toronto. Now that we have moved to Burlington, I found a great lady that does his nails for only $5 plus she has 25 years of experience.

We went to Petsmart today and actually had clippers in our hands but put them back...we are to chicken....I would feel so bad if I cause them to bleed....I am going to see how much my vet charges...seeing that I am there all the time anyways....

If you put the pup in a sink with an inch of water for two minutes, its shocking how much easier it is to clip them. I use 'sideways' human nail clippers.

I think you got a good deal. When I take mine to the vets it is like $17 each. But again, that is the vets office.

Our vet charges $6 to trim nails, but I take Peanut to the groomers and they will trim his nails and the hair around his feet and also the hair between his eyes all for $7. I like the groomers because I can call take him there and wait for him. I will not leave him alone, I guess I'm overprotective.

Good heavens.

I do mine myself. All my dogs enjoy this, while I am trying to cut their nails, I lay them on their backs and tickle their bellies and play gently with the feet and in no time at all they are so relaxed I can cut anything I want:D . I have been doing Bandit's tho since he was a tiny winey baby. Scooby used to put up a fight but I would hold him and still get it done. Newbie Bijour has no problem he lets me. I am thankfut cuz that can become expensive especially having to do it every few weeks. I also try to walk them on concrete and that helps keep the quik short.

So are my boys including the late scooby. There is a technique, you take the clipper and line it up with the paw where that nail is and if the nail sticks out over the paw once you have the clipper in place then that is what you must cut. As long as there is white when you cut it means the quik is farther on up. The more you cut, the more the quik remains up and not close to the tip

even if you nip one of them they really dont feel it, I have nipped both scooby and bandit and to be honest, neither noticed, but I did, that was the first time I did it but now I know the technique:D At first I was really scared but each time it comes easier and easier:thumbup:

I am also the same way, will not leave her for 5 hours, which most groomers here do. I bath her myself and brush every day and let her hair grow, take her in just for the nails, feet, face and behind, takes 15 min.
