Doggie Treats! Dulce was given to me with a very strict diet, I don't know if anyone else has this same issue. She eats her specific dog food 3 times a day and in between has cottage cheese as directed. Are there any kinds of special "Good Girl" treats I should offer her for doing good things like pottying in the right place? Thanks! -Meeshy |
What is her main food and why is it such a strict diet? Any medical issues? |
She is a teacup, and the vet told me for dogs that small, its better to keep them on something they are very familiar with, and not to switch it up. She's eating Nutrisystems. And regular 2% cottage cheese. |
There are probably hundreds of treats you could give. I feed homecooked, so my dog's treats are human food. Here is a list of good choices: Boil chicken bits (white meat, no seasonings or fat or skin) Apple bits (peeled) Watermelon Green Beans (cooked, no salt) Carrot (probably cooked) White potato or sweet potato peeled and boiled (no salt) Banana Rice Lots of people on YT have smaller Yorkies and although some vets prefer you stick with dog food, I don't remember ever hearing that smaller Yorkies are more sensitive to diet change. I suppose the real problem would be if they were sensitive and started throwing up, thereby losing much needed weight. Anyway, since my dog eats homecooked her ingredients change sometimes. I would do the same if she was smaller (she is just over five pounds).:) |
