thin wire coat Hi... I am kind of new to the yorkie breed. I searched the net, read books and can not seem to find any information on MY FEMALE yorkies coat. We got Sadie this past summer from a akc yorkie breeder. She will be 1 year Jan. 17th. I am working on getting a scanner to post a pic. of her. She looks like a yorkie... other than her back coat feels rough.. almost like a wire hair... it is the blue gray color.. however it is thin.. we had a vest color for her... but she did not like it and would roll on the couch and try to get it off.. and would rub bald spots at times. I thought her coat looked rough.. because the dog breeder left the dogs out side while at work... they did have a fence and shade and shelter if rained.. and fresh water and food. Sorry to go on and on.. just wondered if anyone had any clues of why her coat was that way. I have another yorkie and he is the text book look of a yorkie.. great coat... however his ears dont stand well.. and he will be a year in March... any tips on that one also. Thanks and love this site! |
if you want the ears to stand up then you should shave the top and tape them, i personally like the floppy look...... as far as their hair, they have many "types", i dont really know much about the hair but im sure other people can help you out on that one...... |
Wire Hair I am wondering if you have what they call a yorkie blue? They have extremely coarse hair and their hair is very thin and sometimes balding. monisilcott@yahoo.com. If you want more details- I can tell you what I know! |
A wire coat usually stay black and tan and practically don't grow to full lenght they are also called red legs . |
