you will always worry about her. no matter her size :) my Layla was 3lbs when she was spayed and she did really well... She got to come home the same day and took 3-4 days to be back to her normal self... the first night was the hardest beacuse she couldn't stand up to pee or tell me when she needed out... as you will read on many threads here... get a baby onesie to put on her instead of the e-collar.. |

Now is a good age/time to have her spayed. No matter what age or how much she weighs, you will worry about her. Years ago when we had our Boxer pup spayed, I worried like there was no tomorrow. It isn't just about size and weight -- it's worrying about someone you love. I wish there had been a BoxerTalk back in those days to help me through. Rest assured that Layla will not go into surgery alone. YT prayers will accompany her and will be hovering you as you wait. Good luck!!!!! |
Ginger was just spayed about 3 weeks ago..she just now turned 6 mos..when she was spayed she weighed 3.9 lbs and did fine..they won't let you take them home here until the next day |
I know it is so stressful.:( Please, whatever you do, only let her stay there overnight if someone is there with her AWAKE the ENTIRE time. I would not consider letting her stay overnight by herself. It is very dangerous to do so. If they leave at night, insist on taking her home.:) There is just too much that can go wrong. Incisions could split (very rare), they could react to the pain med or they could not come out of anesthesia right and their life would be at risk. There also needs to be someone there in case she is in extreme pain and meds wear off. Ellie goes to a vet office that is staffed 24 hours and they still let spays come home same day. Ellie came home about four and a half hours after a spay, liver biopsy and teeth cleaning. |
