just came back from surgery today my baby got surgery for Legg Perthes she is in pain although she's still sleepy. It is so sad to see her like that! Any suggestions on what i should do during her recovery? I'm heart broken! |
I'm sorry your furbaby had to have surgery. :( Did the vet give you pain meds for her? Mine luckly have never had to have surgery (knock on wood). I can't image what that feels like to see your furbaby like that. Take Care....both of you. |
Well, Rudy did have his neuter surgery and that was a routine thing. But it still made me anxious before and after. Forgot to add that the lst time. |
Welcome to yt. I will keep your little baby in my prayers. |
Gracie is recovering from bilateral luxating patella surgery. The first three days post op are the worst. Give pain pills around the clock as often as is permissible, you want to try and stay on top of the pain. I went to Fred Meyer and bought a super soft, super cushy bed pillow with a fleece cover. It was in the teen section. It acts kind of like a water bed, and creates customized support. Gracie has been on hers non stop since I brought her home from the hospital. Laying on the sofa or bed mattress just is not comfortable for her. I also offer very frequent, small feedings of whatever she will eat. For right now that is ground turkey breast, rice, yogurt and turkey bacon. I save the cheese to give her meds with. It took Gracie about 3 days to get wise to what I was hiding in her treats. Cheese is the only thing she absolutely cannot say no to. Good luck. We are sending well wishes your way. Oh forgot the most important thing, lots of loves and kisses will aid recovery! |
oh the poor sweet thing. Sending hugs and kisses for a fast recovery! |
aww sending hugs her way wishing for a speedy recovery:) |
i'm almost in tears! thanks so so much! Last night went pretty well, after several attemps we were able to sneak her meds in some canned food. But this morning she wont take it! I'm frustrated because I know she needs them and if I dont get her to have them she'll be in so much pain! The problemis that they are all liquids so i find them difficult to disguise, I think i'm going to call the vet to see if they have pills available. Rudysmom: i know what you mean about getting anxious eventhough it was a "routine" thing, they are our babies! Gracie2006 I hope Gracie feels better also, and thanks for the pillow idea I'll go pick one up. And everyone else: thanks again for your support and wishes. |

ask your vet if there is a local pharmacist that can change a liquid into a pill. I had to do that once with milo, it is much easer to hide it that way. |
