Weight Concern Hello, About a year ago I bought my dog from a certified Yorkie breeder in my area. He sold her to us as a "toy" but she is about to turn two years old in April and weights 12 pounds! I consider her bigger than standard, is this something to be concerned about? I see all these small Yorkies and then I look at mine and wonder if something is wrong. I feed her a good amount of food and harley give her treats. What should I do?!? |

Welcome to YorkieTalk:) All Yorkies are in the toy group. The standard is seven pounds and under. Twelve pounds is just fine as long as it is a healthy weight for her. There are lot of bigger Yorkies here. Can you feel her ribs? |
She may is probally too big now for a bottle now. |
My yorkie is 11 lbs and not an ounce overweight...As long as your baby is healthy and not overweight, the weight is fine :) There are yorkies of many different sizes...All yorkies regardless of size are considered toy. The standard calls for 7 pounds or less, but there are bigger yorkies and smaller yorkies :) |
Yes, I can feel her her ribs. Rosey07, that day we had just arrived from a baby shower and were just purley taking a picture of her with a bottle because she is our "baby" ;) It was all just for a laugh. Thank you all for your help! |
