need advice - 5 mo. old twitching(?)
 
That's the best way I could describe it - or maybe call it tremors. Every five minutes or so my puppy will do a twitching motion that last for maybe 1 or 2 seconds. It looks like she might loose her balance when it happens when she's standing but it happens when she's laying down too. It's been going on all day and I was thinking it may be because she's not a very good eater. How long after they eat should this go away if that is the reason (that they are not eating enough)? She has had a fair amount of food today. I also was wondering if I should give her something sweet like a little karo syrup or something for her blood sugar(?). In other words I don't know why this is happening or what to do other than call the vet tomorrow. Does anyone know what might be going on? Thanks so much to anyone who can help.

It doesn't sound like hypoglycemia. I would call the vet. You can give a little bit of karo syrup on your finger if you do think it's hypo though. What parts of her body are shaking?

It affects her whole body. It's like a shiver but the movement is bigger like a shake. She doesn't seem troubled by it but I sure am.

Maybe neurological?
I would request a bile acid test to rule out liver problems.

I agree...A regular blood test will not necessarily show if there is a problem in the liver. Please request the bile acid test to rule out liver shunt/mvd...It's fairly inexpensive, and if it's not that, then you know to keep testing for something else. It's probably the cheapest way to start testing...
The whole body tremor worries me...Might be neurological??
The not eating is scary too because it is a symptom of liver issues, but could also be a symptom of several other things.
Does it look like she's drunk sometimes? Fall over to the side?
Is she lethargic?

I hope your baby feels better soon!!

If it's hypoglycemia, a little honey or karo syrup should bring her blood sugar levels up...

I will request a bile acid test tomorrow hopefully ruling out liver problems. The twitching is fairly subtle. I had to point it out to my husband who thought it was just excitement since she's usually so energetic but then he agreed with me after looking more carefully and it happening more. My daughter sees it too but only after really observing. But they both do agree and see it.
