question about gums
 
i just noticed this morning that lexi's gums are not pink.
is there a problem? this worries me now.

Blue, white, pale or gray is a problem. Black is normal pigment. What color are they?

Okay, did they just change this color recently or have you never looked at them before?

Normal dog gums are pink with splotched of black.

Is she acting normal?
Is she breathing okay?

chow chows have black gums, not yorkies..oh god!!

No there can be some areas of black on their gums ... sort of like paint splotches (sp?). Is Lexi acting normal? Did she eat anything she wasn't supposed to yesterday?? Call me.

All dogs can have black splotches on their gums. Ellie does. I just looked at them.:) Now if they are totally black, that is different. You should see quite a bit of pink and if you don't, call the vet.

my b/f seems to think she has a problem breathing. sometimes
she weezes when she barks,, its like a harsh bark.. she when she sleeps
its a heavy like snore, moaning thingy..

she will be ok Gina..... Gizmo also has some black spots on his gums too

Please try to relax. I know how stressful it is to think that something is wrong but she sounds fine. I don't think gums can become totally black. Ellie has quite a bit of black... You need to look at the pink parts (I'm sure she does have some) and if these aren't a nice pink then there is a problem. Pale, white, gray and blue are bad.

I don't know what the wheezing is. She should probably see a vet for that.

Mine all have black and pink gums. My poor Dixie RIP had very pale grayish gums because she was so sick.

ok . looked at her gums this morning,, boy was i relieved.
she has pick and black.. thank god.. and thanks to you all
