Iams Smart puppy proactive health?? I currently feed pheobe Innova puppy. she isnt really doing so well. it seems like her hair get oily so fast and her poop smells horrible! plus, shes always trying to eat the bigger dogs food, and its PLAIN PURINA DOG CHOW. They used to be on Canidae( for 4 months), and then i tried Chicken soup, but neither helped with alergies and poop was constantly runny, so i switched to diamond all naturals,,and that was a disaster and i waited for a while but nothing got better...after my boyfriends ranting about the dog food prices and how he had always fed his dogs a plain old dog chow.. i figured id try and see how things went.. and allergies are GONE from Cameron( my setter) and my pointer is doing great, coat is shiny and they both look so healthy. anywho..point being.. i was thinking abotu switching pheobe to a more comercial brand. im really hesitant to .. but im thinkin about it. today at walmart they had a little stand with sample packs of Iams Smart puppy proactive health and i grabed one and gave pheobe a little bit and she ate it, and loved it. i read the ingredients and cheacked out the analysis, it doesnt look bad at all. ive always been one to frown upon brands like purina and iams. but after everything ive learned about them , my big boys are doing great on purina... and i plan to keep them on it. SO... any input on Iams Smart puppy proactive health?? |
It doesn't look like a horrible food except for the corn meal (and it may be fine for your dogs), chicken by-products and sorghum. I don't feed by-products that could possibly be blood and hair though. The biggest reason I wouldn't feed this food is because I no longer give a penny to Iams/Eukanuba. They are cruel animal testers and I will not support it. If you don't want to go with this food have you tried Natural Balance, Wellness, Artemis, Solid Gold. |

can you homecook? |
I feed mine IAMS toy and small breed puppy and they love it. We have had no problems at all with it. |
im really thinking about giving the iams a try. im usually so much into feeding a "better" food. but for some reason i keep thinking..give it a try... and see how it goes. the ingredients do keep poking at me though.. its hard to choose.. :( i actually really want to homecook, but havent done alot of looking into it. when i first got my setter, thats when i first learned about it. and almost did it until we got our pointer a few days later and i just felt like it would be too overwhelming and pricey too. instantly the first thing that comes to my mind when thinking about homecooking...POOP EVERYWHERE. i just cant imagine giving food to pheobe like that and then her having normal poop instead of poop scattered all over..lol..do any of you guys home cook?? got any goo info or websites? how pricey is it? |
