ahhh...found a tick on baby~ i went home on my lunch and i was playin with baby i found a tick near his ear omg i went nuts i took it out with tweezers lol...put some peroxide on it wow......i called the vet he said to keep an eye on it...ahhhhhh  has anyone ever gone through this????? |
i did when i had my other dog. you need to put your baby on frontline cause, its tick season and you dont want those little suckers on your baby. |
I second the frontline plus...it prevent fleas and ticks..plus mites!!! |
I only had Teddy TWO DAYS when I found a tick on him....freaked out! If you put vaseline on them before you remove them they are easier to get out because they suffocate and try to back out. Teddy will go on frontline before he goes out again. I forgot to ask the vet about it. Is he too young for this medication. He is only 11 weeks old. |
Macy was 10 weeks old when the vet gave me frontline. She has had 2 ticks- we live in prime tickville. I was wondering if getting the lyme prevention shot was something everyone did or not. The vet asked me about getting and I didn't with the understanding that I could if I changed my mind. Has anyone else got this shot for their babies? |
I got the lyme shots...just in case!!! |
what about Advantix?? is that any good? |
I guess Advantix is good. The vet put it on Kacee June 25th and we go all over and she hasn't had anything that I know of... |
I'm sorry you found that tick. It really is upsetting, I know, I found one on Chewy. You can pull those suckers out with tweezers, but they have to be destroyed, literally. My vet told me that they split them in half and then flush them down the toilet. My vet gave him the Frontline and she is comfortable at that. She said when she neuters him she will test for any Lyme, but she thinks it will be negative. Get puppy set up on frontline (plus???) and you will be fine. PS> I just read your post again and you said vet told you to keep an eye on it? Did they tell you to remove it? That should be done ASAP. Smother it in vaseline and then pluck it with tweezers. |
chewysmom~i took the tick out lol it was a strugle my brother had to hold baby's head but i put vaseline on it and used the tweezers to take it out those little ticks are so ewww ugly.....i called the vet right after and asked him what i should do .......~clean it up wit peroxide and just keep an on it well he seems to be doing fine and i finally figured out where he got the tick from i took baby to the beach yesturday ahhh ill never do that again my dad also found a tick on him today so i put two and two together and it was the beach alright.. never again |
This is kind of a strange thing to do but I'll share it anyway. My sister in laws family seems to have a lot of tick problems. When she finds one, she removes it and tapes it to a card with a date. That way if anyone ever gets sick, she takes them and the tick to the Dr. to be tested. Guess this would work with our furbabies. |
When can you begin flea medicine? Hello, I wanted to know when we can begin flea medicine? My baby is 15 weeks old. I was thinking of starting her with Revolution. |
You might keep a box of alcohol pads on hand. The tick will back out with the alcohol, then you use the pad to sterilize the spot. If you prefer not to use chemicals on your lawn, then you can purchase Beneficial Nematodes at your local feed store or organic gardening center. These small nematodes feed on the larvae of the tick, flea and grubs. We use them on our lawn and haven't had a parasite in over ten years, without using any chemicals on our dogs. When using the nematodes, you must keep your lawn watered on a regular basis. If you allow your lawn to become very dry, it will kill your nematodes. |
