Trouble Passing; anything I can do to help
 
Logan is having trouble passing something, I would guess a piece of hoof. I think it's on the back leg of it's journey & I know it's not causing a complete blockage, but it is causing him a lot of discomfort. I was wondering if there is anything I can give him to help it out. I tried a little karo syrup this morning, but he didn't want it. I gave him a bit of pepto bismol before I left for work. I'm sure he'll be fine, I just hate seeing him in pain like this. So if anyone knows of anything I could give him to help him get this passed I would appreciate it. I'm gonna put a call into my vet as soon as they open to see what they recommend.

I don't know. You might need to take him to the vet. Most of these chews can also cause intestinal damage... Can you switch to something else for chews?

I'm definitely going to after this. I can't take this stress of him being sick all the time. I don't know what I would do if I lost him.
I called the vet & they said 1 tsp of canned pumpkin twice daily, so I'm going to go pick that up. If he doesn't improve I'll take him in in the morning.

I started another thread looking for a chew that would last with him, but not cause any problems.

You might give him a warm bath also. That may help him to go

I actually kinda did this this morning. He hoped in the shower with me which I thought was odd since he didn't feel good. But I had the same thought so I held him under the warm shower on his tummy, he likes this anyway, & rubbed him belly & his bum. It didn't really seem to help, but maybe it provided a little relief.

Ive heard canned pumpkin or mineral oil/olive oil..I hope he feels better soon!

The canned pumpkin works great. I freeze it in those little silicone ice cube trays so it lasts longer.

Logan didn't want to eat the canned pumpkin yet, but cottage cheese looked good to him. So we gave him a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese with a little karo syrup and he ate most of that. He seems better, but not good yet. My mom is going to watch him for the rest of the afternoon.

I give Chelsea a bit of salman oil and wait about 1/2 hour and she goes, it's a little softer & liquid at the end.

I'll have to see if my mom has canola oil cause I don't know if I do. Hopefully by the time I go pick him up things will have worked there way out. He didn't seem like he was in as much pain at lunch as he was this morning. here's hoping.
