what kind of water do you give to your yorkies? I recently switched my girls to sodium free spring water because we were having high blood pressure issues. One of my girls was prescribed otc claritin for her skin allergies. we already were dealing with severe protein loss in urine which is aka glomelur disease. well--high bp is a symptom. HOwever- after seeing a specialist he said that the Claritin could be what was causing the bp so high (265) yep you read that correctly. so we had been giving them spring water-no sodium bc the vet and specialist said that it would help the bp problem. and he said that there is A LOT of sodium in regular faucet water. BUT now that her bp is well under control since stopping the claritin- her last bp reading was 130. so yeah- a great big change with that. i really think the sodium free spring water is making their eyes all watery and they now have loads of discharge. anyone ever experiece this or have any other suggestions. i am not as overly concerned switching back to faucet or reg bottled water but i really think by changing thier water...that the sodium free spring water has something to do with this as crazy as that sounds. :-) appreciate any feedback |
hm...that's strange because I have been giving my puppy bottled spring water ever since I got him(because that's what the breeder had been giving him) and he has had very watery eyes since I have gotten him. Often his face is wet from his eyes. I wonder if the spring water has something to do with it??? We have a reverse osmosis filter(produces distilled water) at home and I am thinking of maybe switching to that. |
Murfee drinks Ozarka |
is all spring water sodium free? maybe the reg spring water has sodium. I have distilled also and i think i remember the distilled water really helping with the teary eyes. might try it again. |
Mine get well water. Lots of minerals in it. |
Mine get tap water, straight from Lake Michigan!!! We like it!! |
Mine get evian because that is what I drink. |
Romeo get filtered from the fridge door. |
Otis gets filtered water from the sink. He has not had any problems with it. His eyes are not watery or anything like that. Until he has problems with it, I don't think I will change him. |
Gus gets Bottled water and he had No problems with his eyes |
Mine get water filtered through the refrigerator |
I just bought distilled water since Dixie has kidney failure and their is less sodium in it. Does anyone know if I can just switch them to it or do it gradually? I don't want them to get sick. |
I use a water purifier out of the faucet. But mine at times gets watery eyes but I figured its more due to something out side. |
My girls were drinking Ozarka water that's delivered in, but I've since started buying Fiji water by the case for the kids and I so the girls now get that instead... |
Fridge filtered. |
Good Grief! I learn something new everyday----especially since I joined YT. Hmmmm, bottled water for dogs. But, then, why not? I don't want to drink our local water because it comes from a lake outside of town. Grosses me out. Fish, dead fish and other creatures, cows, people, fertilizer, run-off from who knows where, etc. So why shouldn't I do the same for my doggies? Joanne :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :dog: |
mine get Fiji because that's what we drink. |
Filtered From the door here as well :) -- when we go on vacation we always take bottled water so they don't get an upset stomach :) |
Mine drink spring water (bottle) but I running through the Britta filter just to make sure:rolleyes: |
Ours get tap water, the same stuff we drink. We've never had any problems. |
