Deegan's Vet Visit So we went for Deegan's 2nd set of shots Friday afternoon. The vet said that he is perfectly healthy and looks great too! We also weighed him and he gained a whopping 1 pound in a matter of three weeks! That seems like alot to me. Then after the doctor was finished looking over his heathly, he administered the shot.... ooooooh I don't think that either one of us like that part. Poor little Deegan squeeled and cried so loud while he was doing it. I looked at the vile as the doctor was injecting it and noticed that while Deegan was screaming there was still quite a bit more to inject. I just felt like yelling out "No,no, no more...stop!" Because he sounded like someone was killing him and it almost made me cry. :cry8: Then after he was limping for a little bit, but that quickly wore off. He was fine after that, he was eating and romping like usual. One strange thing he did though was start to drag him bum across the floor while we were still in the vet's office. And I was like "Why is he doing that?? He never did that before?" The girls told me that it just might because he's trying to rub the spot where he got his shot in or it could be that he just feel a little discomfort from getting his temperture taken too, and that it should stop soon. He did stop, he only did it once after we left the vet's. So to make a long story short - he's healthy and happy and so am I! :yelrotflm |
Sorry to hear that he cried, but happy to know it's okay now. Sometimes they will drag their bottoms on the floor to empty their anal glands. A lot of times when an animal is scared, the anal gland will secrete. Should he continue to drag quite often, you will need to have the gland emptied. Normally the gland will empty while having a bowel movement, but there may be a time it will become clogged. That's when the vet, yourself or the groomer will have to empty it. |
Poor little guy - I would have been crying hearing him cry ...Glad he's healthy - if he scoots anymore -Stitches is right - it could be the anal glands and the vet could have checked that day - if he continues to do this - have them check his little glands for expression.... though he's pretty young to be needing that - It could have just been a itchy butt :D |
they actually squeezed lycans anal glands when we went for her 1st set of shots so she would have been 6 weeks old at that point so some vets do it at a very early age |
Glad Deegan's visit went well even though he didn't like the shot! Who does? I think it's harder on the mommies sometimes! :D |
Tucker is such a rottweiler in a yorkie suit. He doesn't even look up when he gets his shots! Megan is the only one who cries! |
