Yogurt questions.... Zoe has currently been on the raw diet for a week now and doing great but I would like to add a little variety to her meals and somewhere along the way, someone said they fed yogurt as a breakfast meal. So I have a few questions.... 1. Do you feel that that is healthy as a daily meal or only occasionally? 2. What kind of yogurt do you feed? Is it the unsweetened whole milk yogurt or doesn't matter? 3. Any other suggestions about something I could add as an occassional meal as I'm afraid since she's a bit picky that she will get tired of the raw unless I add some variety? Thanks for any help! |
Yogart has alot of nutrients in it and good for alot of things. Not sure which kind is better for the yorkies. Can you feed her fish? |
The best is organic plain yoqurt but mine like me like vanilla so thats what I give them. I given it once a day in the morning |
I feed my Remi a heaping teaspoon of plain, low fat yogurt at each of his two meals per day. He loves it and has always done well with this since he came home as a pup until now at 17 months old. The yogurt was part of his diet as recommended by the breeder. |
Yogurt has active cultures that are very good for digestion and help boost their immune system;) Any kind is fine, just be sure that it is NOT the diet variety with artificial sweeteners, as those are toxic to our babies. Mine like the lowfat plain just fine, actually:D I alternate between that and cottage cheese for their dinner, which is when they get their Missing Link mixed in there |
My girl LOVES plain (no flavour, no sugar etc) organic yogurt. I give her a teaspoon or two most days. Cooked rolled oats is a fav here (no sugar or anything) and well as a small scrambled egg (a small egg no more than once a week). I think the important thing is to provide balanced meals for your baby. I use the guide of 1/3 starch, 1/3 veggie, 1/3 protein for each meal with the yogurt or cottage cheese as an add on. HTH |
My girls get yogurt every day as their breakfast meal and then they get their Honest Kitchen freeze-dried raw for dinner each evening. They get about a heaping tablespoon each..... Sissy has had a very nasty bout of giardia early on and went on a hunger strike. Yogurt was one food she would always eat. My vet approved it and says it is very good for their digestive health (if you are using a good yogurt). We use either Stoneyfield Organic or Dannon Naturals. I get either the plain or vanilla (depending on expiration dates), but I do use the low-fat since Sissy possibly has pancreatitis. We also use Missing Link and this gets mixed in with their yogurt every morning. We've been doing this for over a year now with great results!!!! |
my girls are on raw diet too and i give the plain organic sheep milk yougurt with each meals..it helps with the digestive system since their poop can be really hard sometimes with raw food so yogurt helps..they wont eat any yogurt except sheep milk one..sigh.. |
