Puppy Teeth My vet says that my 1 year old yorkie needs her canine puppy teeth pulled. The Humane Society vet prior said nothing. I need help. |
I believe it can affect them negatively later on if they aren't pulled. It can grow into her gums and cause her pain. It can also affect the way teeth naturally sit in her mouth. You could always get another opinion from another vet as well. My Yoda got a few teeth pulled (brave little fella) at around 1 year old. They did put him under anesthesia. Just make sure the vet has experience with little Yorkies before you let them perform the procedure. Hope that helps... |

And try to brush your Yorkie's teeth now and in the future every few days or so. It'd be so sad if they lost their teeth when they get older! |
Take care of her teeth! Most vets can do a good job, your Yorkie will be a "little down" for a day or two to recover, but after that, she'll be as good as new! I concur, make sure your Yorkie is being seen by a vet that can handle Yorkies. |
Puppy Teeth Thanks I just want to be sure that they are puppy teeth since I was told nothing from one vet and removal from another. On her upper jaw she has a straight canine next to a curved canine on both sides. On the bottom she has one straight canine on each side. She did have one double tooth on the bottom but lost it to tug of war. |
If she has crowded teeth, then the excess ones should be removed. The baby teeth that don't fall out on their own need to be pulled by the vet too. Unfortunately, I was not able to locate a full picture of a Yorkie's mouth and teeth. Perhaps if you can locate a picture of that, it would help determine if it's baby teeth or not. Let us know what you can find! :) |

Don't forget to ask the vet if you can keep his baby teeth for sentimental reasons!! Maybe the toof fairy will pay your dog a visit. |
Speaking of, Junebug, we kept most of the Yoda baby teeth that we could FIND, and Yoda's mommy took one tooth and got it put on my necklace. So now I wear Yoda everywhere. :) |

Well, I guess I would do that with Otis's baby teeth, if they did't smell like a tub full of rotten fish. |
NO! Yoda will always be my son! hahah.... tho I guess Angelina might be getting back with good 'ol Billy Bob... ya never know with them two. But yes, Yoda mommy and daddy are very weird at times :) I'm sure you can find some alcohol or something to soak his rotten fish smelling teeth in to get rid of the smell, clean it, etc. |

That sounds like something you'd see on Survivor. If I had one, I'd call it the immunity necklace. :D |
Yeah, well pitbulls are scared of ME now! :P |
Oh yes, the baby teeth remaining syndrome. My Deucy had to have his removed at a very young age as his perms came in and baby teeth would not come out. My Dam also had the same thing as well as Baker, their son. I'm not sure about Patticake. It is quite a normal thing and MUST be done before they start getting all sorts of gum disease probs. It's not as bad as you think and the cost wasn't that bad here. $40.00. Deucy has the most beautiful smile now but, he has these black spots all over his belly! Nobody seems to know about these and they are getting much worse? Anybody? |
