Birthday Cake Help.... When Rusty had his 1st Birthday we of course got him a cake. However, it was a HARD birthday cake with the icing and all . Anyways... I was thinking I had seen others on here during their birthdays w/a soft one. Are they "dog" cakes or just regular little ones like from wal-mart? If anyone can give me suggestions where to buy or whatever I would appreciate it. Sophie's birthday in on Saturday and I don't want a hard cake. |
Can't help with the cake but just wanted to say :bigbdaypa :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :bigbdaypa |
4 Attachment(s) For Bailey's 1st Birthday I got his Birthday cake at www.funstufffordogs.com and its hard but its soft in the middle (they make it hard for shipping reasons so it won't go bad..it acts like a seal).....Bailey had no problems eating it  I do recommend this cake and this is coming from a Mom that doesn't give HARD TREATS to Bailey  It comes in 1 or 2 other colors...I bought the Blue Bone to match off of the site as well.....Hope the pics help. Oh and I would like to add its a NICE SIZE (although you can freeze it and it will still be good) after a few days I just threw most of it away  |
1 Attachment(s) I don't know if you are interested in making your own, but I did. I bought two cans of soft dog food, scooped it out and put it in a round bowl and put it in the fridge for a couple of hours for the food to get a little cold and just sled a knife around the edges of the bowl and the cake mold came right out. I then decorated it with dream whip and put dry dog food for the happy birthday lettering. All the dogs lapped it up, I will try to attach a pic, it was my first one, so it wasn't the neatest but birthday number two turned out much better. |
cake recipe I used this recipe for my schnoodle's 1st birthday.. Anyways, A.J loved it and it was super easy to make and fun to decorate. 2/3 cup mashed bananas (I used baby food) 1/2 cup softened butter 3 large eggs 3/4 cup water 2 cups unbleached flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. cinamon Icing: 2 cups mashed bananas (baby food) 1 Tbl. butter 2 tsp. vanilla 3 Tbl. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 6 Tbl. carob flour (doggy safe chocolate flavoring) In mixing bowl, beat together banana and butter until creamy. Add eggs and water; beat well. Stir in dry ingrediants and beat until smooth. Spoon batter into oiled bundt pan or cupcake tins. Bake at 350* for 35 minutes. Icing: Blend ingrediants throughly and spread onto cooled cake. Decorate with natural peanut butter, dog treats, etc ***I made it into cupcakes so it was easier to feed him. I don't remember exactly how many it made but I'm thinking somewhere around 2 dozen. |
i'm going to try to bake a cake for my baby on his first birthday!!!!! =D |
Thanks for the ideas so far. I will run these by my hubby and see if he wants to make her one or buy her one. She is a DADDY'S GIRL BIG TIME... and he is the cook in the house so if he wants to make it... I think I will leave it up to him. Thanks again |
