Vaccination ? 2 Attachment(s) I have seen threads where some have reactions to shots. Tricksie has to get her DHLPPC on Wed. Should I stay at the office for a while to make sure she is o.k. She has never had any problems before. Worried Mom:eyetearss :eyetearss |
She should not get the "L" (lepto) at all unless it is a serious problem in your area. Yorkies have been known to die from this vaccine. Corona is not necessary, especially if she is older. I would stay for atleast 20 minutes if you live more than a couple minutes from your vet. If you are getting the lepto there is no way I'd leave before 20-30 minutees. |

This is the exact shot that Ellie went into shock and collapsed with. I could have lost her because of it... It was probably the lepto. |
lepto Lepto can be very dangerous for them. My vet never gives it at all but in some areas vets recommend it |
If your vet does recommend Lepto due to cases in your area, a vet who is a member on another forum said that Fort Dodge has a single dose vaccine for Lepto that they give separately at a later time to be safe. The scary thing about Lepto is that they usually don't have a reaction the first time. It's generally the second or third shot that causes the potentially deadly reaction and people mistakenly think it's safe. |
