vaccination question Tuesday morning, I'm taking KaCee in to get her second round of shots. I've gone through the whole vaccination series with A.J without any problems, but I am concerned about KaCee. Is there any precautions I should take with her being so tiny? She is 10 weeks old and weighs right at 1 lb. I did a search on vaccinations and read a few posts suggesting to not give the lepto vaccine. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
Yes, do not give lepto. Corona isn't necessary and especially not after 8-10 weeks (in my opinion). If Kacee would ever show a reaction, the vet would premedicate with benadryl first. This could probably be done if you are that concerned. |
This link by Dr. Jean Dodds is a good guideline....I would not do any combo shots and I wouldn't do more than one shot at a visit with 3-4 weeks in between them.... http://www.weim.net/emberweims/Vaccine.html |
Do not give combo shots, that way if there is a reaction you can see what did it. And don't give lepto. My husband is a vet and wouldn't vaccinate Ranger for Lepto. Also, after the puppies have had all their shots, we only do rabies. We may do another set of booster shots after three or so years, but we never do yearly boosters, it is very hard on their systems. Good luck, Amanda |
