Changing dog foods. I'm gradually changing Riley's food from Eukanuba to Canidae. I've been mixing it in with his Eukanuba for almost 2 weeks now. It has been giving him alittle bit of gas. My question is will the gas stop on its on once he gets use to the Canidae or should I try to take him off Canidae? TIA!!:D |
Anybody??:D |
I don't know what to tell you...half of my crew couldn't stomach several of the 'high end' organic foods (although it was a bit more than gas:eek: ) I still try new ones from time to time, but have not found one they can hang with yet.:( I just have to make sure that I get them any supplements they dont' get from their food. Maybe you should try a different food? |
I have tried Eukanuba and found that is gave my dogs gas and more stool. The main grain in the Eukanuba is corn. Corn is difficult for dogs to digest and thought to be the cause of a great many allergy and yeast infection problems. How much of the Canidae are you feeding versus the Eukanuba. It should not take two weeks to switch over totally. I have found that once you get your dog switch over to a high quality food then you should see better results. I rotate my dogs between Canidae Holistic Blend, Canidae Lamb and Rice and Chicken Soup For the Pet Lovers Soul dog food and never have problems with diarrhea. It seems much harder switching dogs that have been on a corn based dog food to a meat based dog food. I would highly recommend taking him off the Eukanuba as soon as possible. |

But in this case, I think the dog didn't have that problem w/ the Eukanuba, just w/ the Canidae...? |
Changing food What is your opinion on Science Diet puppy formula? |

Raw, which I thought I'd never give but now do, I recommend Natures Variety Raw medallions. Pups and adult Yorkies act like it's laced with candy. Based on my dogs weight, I give 1 medallion a day and I always have Natural Balance Small Bites kibble left out. Dogs skin, coat, and teeth are all very healthy looking. Also noticed their endurance increased on our little walks....Before they always seemed a little to lazy or tired. |

sometimes.. it takes a little while for their bodies to adjust to a new food. When changing foods you are supposed to give the new food at least 8 weeks to see the benifits/drawbacks of the food. I would go ahead and stop the Eukanuba all together and feed just the Canidae for a few more weeks before I would switch foods again. Of course this is just my opinion and I am not in the house with a gas bombing dog.LOL!!! Good Luck!! |
When I changed my 2 off iams to solid gold, I did it within a matter of a week or less. So I would prob just take him completly off eukenuba and put him on the new food and see if the gas continues. |
