Anyone have a Frontline Box? I need to know the active ingredient in Frontline. It's what I've always used in the past and it's worked well. However, I just found the Sargeant brand flea drops and would like to know if the active ingredient is the same. Sargeant is only $10.00 versus the $45 for Frontline. Thanks in advance! Jacki |
Fipronil is the main ingredient in Frontline... Permethrin is the main ingredient in Sargeant... |
Permethrin is very toxic and if you google it(permethrin or Sargeants), you can see that many dogs have had bad reactions to it... |
Permethrin is also in Advantix (not Advantage). I don't like it. My cousin's dog just had a reaction to Sergeants. She got really restless and it had to be washed off. It can happen with any flea preventative but over the counter meds are worse. |
Please, please don't use any of the over the counter flea products. They can kill your dog. They can even be toxic to humans, especially children: http://www.nrdc.org/health/effects/pets/execsum.asp |

I personally do not like to use flea products because of the toxins and chemicals that go into their bodies, but if you're looking for a place to buy Frontline or products like that for less than what you pay at your vet's office, you can get it online at www.entirelypets.com I think it says a 3 month box is $27.99 |
