White Patches on Inestine??? So we dropped Ariel off this morning to get spayed, and one of the nurses called us indicating that they found some white patches on her large intestine. They were asking for permission to do a biopsy on her to find out what it was. They didn't know what it could be...only saying that it is abnormal. Does anyone know what this could be?! |
I don't know what it is, but I would definitely have the biopsy done while they're in there already. |

Hmmm...that's odd. Did she ever have coccidia as a pup? |
It could possibly be intestinal lympthangiectasia. White spots on the intestines seems to be a symptom in humans. http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body...giectasia.html That is the closest thing I can find. I hope it's nothing serious. Does she have any of these symptoms: Weight loss is the most consistent sign along with chronic diarrhea, vomiting, and fluid accumulation in the abdomen creating a bloated appearance. If not and her preop bloodwork came back normal then it is probably something else. |

Good question...Did they do any pre-op bloodwork?? |
No, they didn't do pre-op blood work  She got through the spay just fine, and is super tired. She's just getting plenty of peace and quiet right now. The vet said that it could be an abrasion of her lymphatic tissues, or it could have been caused by parasites (though they didn't find any during her spay). Or, this abnormality could just be "normal" for her body. We should have the results of the biopsy next week. I hope it's nothing major :( |
