Is 5 Months old to early......... to start marking? We do also have an older male dog in the house. A couple of days ago I noticed Rocco was peeing in the house in weird little spots and just some little dribbles at a time. I took him to the vet and they being as thorough as they are ran all kinds of test which cost me $160 right after Christmas. Anyway, thats not the point but they said it did not show him to have a uti but we are treating him with antibiotics anyway. Is it possible that he is "marking" this early? Has anyone else had this problem with such a young little guy? Thanks. |

Yes, males can start marking and hiking their legs that young. Is your other male potty trained to go outside? If your other male has marked in the house then the puppy will follow suit. I am not sure why the vet would prescribe antibiotics if he does not need them. |

I have two males. Coby is 10 mos old. He's lifted his leg twice outside so far, but the first was at about 5 months. The first time he fell into the tree, and the second time he fell away from the tree. Guess he didn't find it all that fun, because he hasn't bothered since, even watching Reggie (10 yrs old) mark. We don't have a problem with either marking in the house. I did have a female once that had submissive urination problems, so we had dribble everywhere! Ugh. |
Jambo will be 5 months on the 9th of January and I have seen him lift his leg to pee a couple of times. The first time was when he was almost 4 months. I thought he was imitating another dog he saw doing this. The other day he lifted his leg and pee-ed next to a trash can. My mom says he is just advanced for his age. Normally he does squat to pee but I have noticed his little wee wee is bigger. |
