Sudden bald spot 2 Attachment(s) ?????? You got me... we noticed it on SOphie about 2-3 weeks ago, it was just there one day. I mean bay butt bald. A little about Sophie... she weighs 2.8 lbs, was shaved down around October and spot was not there, eats California natural for about 3-4 months now.... not sure what else might help you guys with telling me what it MIGHT could be.???? Here is a pic |
It could be an allergy and she is ripping her hair out. |
I can't figure out what it would be an allergy to though because I havent changed anything. Surely if she was going to have a reaction to the food she would have had it LONG before now???? We are on our 2nd bag of it... |
Could be something environmental. |
hm......:scratchhe :idontknow |
hmmmm..... ringworm? Is there any redness or "bumps"?? Or.... could that awful groomer have nicked her and you didn't notice? Sometimes if there is a cut, even a slight one, the hair around the area will fall completely out before it starts coming back in veryyyy slowly... Other than that, I have no clue............ vets normally give vaccinations in the scruff of the neck... but has she had an injection for anything in that spot? Kinda' weird... wish I had something solid to offer ya'... |

If this is what it is, the hair will grow back in time, no worries Mama. :) |
Hot spot My dog had the same type of thing. So we took her to the vet. The vet said it was a hot spot like she had some type of flea allergy and was biting there but Peanut didnt have fleas. They told me to put some frontline on her and bathe her in a flea bath and she was fine. BTW.......no fleas came off her when we gave her a bathe. |
Interesting bc I noticed the SAME thing, in the same spot on Wylie about 1.5 years ago! The only thing we could come up with (at the vets) was that it was probably an injection site. Also, that if the injection was given in close proximity to his neuter time, there may not have been the right hormones (as they were changing/adjusting) to grow the hair back and the spot became permanent. NOW, if this can be caused solely by an injection....pretty scary how toxic that injection has to be, huh? |
shot Looks like a scar caused by a vaccination..sometimes you see them on the shoulder area where they get rabies...usually about quarter size.. |
The more of you say it the more it make sense... that has to be what it is... it was given during her first heat too so maybe her hormones were messed up enough that it may never grow back... BUT.... it will be ok because the rest of her hair I think will cover it up when it grows down. WOW... I can't belive what can happen from a shot, you're right Wylies' Mom... that is crazy!! |
It could be from constant scratching or biting in that spot. Mr. Biggs has a small bald spot (in the shape of a circle) on the side of his body. I noticed it there one day one month when he had a really bad case of fleas. I guess he just scratched the spot so much that now no hair grows there. Luckily it's covered by all of his other fuzzy hair. lol As long as nothing seems odd about the area, I wouldn't worry about it. |
