When raw doesn't work out About a month ago I tried to switch all my pets (2dogs and 1kitten) to a raw diet. My 3 yr old Lab ate it with no problem (he's still on it) and so did my kitten (still on it as well). I started off with the organic chicken, then someone suggested that I try a different protein type. Which I did, lamb, venison and rabbit. She won't even come near it. So, I went out and bought the NV kibble. She wouldn't even touch it. When I purchased it I picked up some samples of Innova and Innova Evo. She ate the Innova Evo right away. So I went out and bought a bag of that, it seems like she is not eating that either. Finally I purchased some of the Innova evo canned food which she seems to be eating. I guess my question should I try some of the other brands of raw or even the freeze dried? |
Freeze dried (NV) is expensive - is that the brand you're thinking of? You have one picky eater on your hands! Either she has YOU trained or she really is a dog who needs variety. I'm really surprised she didn't like any of the raw - usually something fits the bill. Did you hold out at all - and make her skip a feeding or was that too tough to do? I mean, you could try alternating btwn raw and non-raw - like raw in the a.m. and non-raw in the p.m.; you could also try prey model - have you considered that? |
Mine love all kind of raw and prey model also. And I leave out NV kibble also if wanted. So we have a big variety for them.I have one who does not really like the raw but loves the kibble.(she is getting better with the raw though) |
I am so excited right now. My Sadie just ate the raw venison. I figured I would give it one more try. At first she didn't want anything to do with it. I pinched off a little and stuck it in her mouth. For the first time she did not gag or spit it out. I then put a little more on my finger and she would walk over and sniff it and walk away. Finally she came over and started eating it. |
