Raw Turkey
 
We had turkey for christmas dinner and I saved the stuff from inside for the dogs. My quetion is the neck... can I give the dogs the neck INSTEAD of the meal or as a snack? And the gizzard is it edible? Sould I give it in small pieces? I know not to give much liver cause it causes cannon butt. The pups are eating raw now but its pre made so this will be new for them. Thanks for the info :D

I'm not really sure. I think turkey is bad for dogs but I've heard about people feeding their dogs the gizzard (cooked). Personally it's all I can do to touch the things long enought to get it out of my turkey. LOL eewww :p

I have given my dogs (before I had yorkies) turkey necks before. No problems. It may be a little hard for yorkies to chew up the bones, though. But would be good for their teeth trying to pull the meat off.

You can feed a turkey neck for a meal. I've given a chicken neck to Lacy before...turkey neck is basically the same thing..just bigger.

I read somewhere on here before that Turkey is not good for our babies...is this true? and if so, why is that? I gave Pixie some cooked Turkey on Christmas day mixed with some vegetables...this was the first time she had ever had it.:confused:

it is not bad for dogs unless they are alergic to it. i feed my larger dogs turkey necks all the time and they love them. do not cook them, that is when the bones become brittle and splinter real easy. i can't wait to see what the yorkies will do with them.

There is a post on here, somewhere, that turkey is not good for dogs. My neighbors dog got into some turkey and got really sick....they thought she was going to die...I would be careful with turkey...it's a stronger meat than chicken...JMO
