full 1mL for puppy shot?? giving the shots myself.. The full dose seems like a lot for puppies that are between 1 and 2lbs... Should I just give each puppy .5mL or the whole 1mL:confused: ? |
You should give the whole mL like it recommends. |

As Fairlacy said, give the whole thing. Half a shot does not protect the puppy. |
I am sorry but that is not true... they give the same amount of vaccine to a great dane puppy as they do to a yorkie... if they are under two pounds I give ONLY half shots and if they are closer to a pound I take them to the vet for vaccines (he administers only 1/2 shots) and I leave them for a couple hours for observation to keep on the safe side. Many vets will also only give 1/2 shots for rabies as well for these little ones! |
My pulga is also 2lbs now and she gets half dose. I also have a cocker that is 20lbs and she gets the whole thing. I think that a whole dose for a small baby is too much and they could get sick / react bad to the shot. Its quite sad that most vets don’t care and give the same amount regardless of the doggy size :( |
