Poop Colour I've had my puppy for a week and a half now and i notice that her poo is changing. When i first got her, her poo was hard and a dark brown. Today it was a much lighter colour.. close to light brownish greenish colour and its much more moister. Yesterday I gave her some cheese as reward but not today. But, could the cheese have an effect on poop? HOw should her poop be like? thank you |
Cheese is tough on my Yorkie. she get's really loose stools and slimey ones. I'd keep her away form cheese. |
ohh.. thanks for telling me that! I guess it was the cheese cause yesterday night and today her poop returned back to normal... didn't know cheese made such a big difference. I'll try another treat instead. thanks again |
You are welcome! When the poop is too soft , the belly is not good. Keep her on the same diet. Mine is very sensitive to change. You'll be able to tell when her belly isn't feeling well by her mood. They don't play much, they just lay around looking at you with their big eyes! also , when mine starts "sitting quick" as we call it, she got to go! Good luck. For treats, tey the Iams puppy biscuits, mine liked them. I would break them up. |
my puppy is 10 weeks old.. when did u start changing her diet.. necause so far i've just been giving her the food that her breeder was giving her.. and tried the cheese the other day ( a failure).. so is it too soon.. or u think that i can start giving her other types of food? |
No, don't change foods yet. I changed foods when Cocoa refused to eat the breeders food after a few months. I mixed the new food to the breeders food to avoid stomach problems. Then wean off to the new food. If the puppy is OK with the food, leave it on that food up to one year. The vet will guide you, always ask questions. At that age, I used her dry kibble for treats. She liked to play with them and then crunch them. |
Hi there. I give Wembley cheese all the time. It's her favorite special treat for doing things she hates like brushing, bath time, going out in the rain, etc. She's never had a reaction to it. It might help to give your puppy cheese again in a few days, and then if her poop comes out that way again, you know it's more likely the cheese, and not something else. Also, Wembley's poops change from time to time, just in the way you mentioned. I never thought anything of it. As long as she's eating, playing, and overall a happy puppy, I am happy too. Hope that helps, Rachel :animal-sm |
i see.. i was planning to keep her food the same.. but just the treats that i'm unsure when i can give her.. like i heard apples, nbeans, chicken, etc.. are good for treats.. wonderign for those when i can start.. but maybe then i will just give the dry kibble as u suggested..thanks |
thanks for your suggestion.. but i will lay off the cheese for awhile because she still has accidents in the house and with carpet.. well.. u can imagine :) thank you very much though.. |
