Worried About McKenzie
 
Whenever McKenzie drinks from her water bowl she will have a hackey cough for a few seconds after. I just assumed she was drinking too quickly and it was going down the wrong way or she was getting too much air as she was drinking.

Now she is making that coughing/gasping noise when she gets excited or even sometimes while she is sleeping. It happens a few times a day.

I'm really starting to worry about collapsing trachea. I know my yorkie/jrt mix did this as a baby and grew out of it. The vet told me she was just reverse sneezing.

I'm calling to make a vet appt at 8 am when the vet opens, hopefully I can get her in today, if not I will make the first appt I can to get her in.

Just wondering for those of you whose babies do have CT.. what were the warning signs?

I am sorry to hear McKenzie is having trouble. I sure hope it's not CT!

Pixie coughs eveytime she takes a drink but only then. Last night when I went to pick up my new puppy from the same breeder she mentioned that the puppy was use to drinking out of a water bottle, so I think maybe Pixie did too and drinks too fast out of a bowl. You may want to get her checked out just to be safe.

Thank you guys so much for the thoughts. She doesn't do it too often, but it's usually a few times a day.

I've been reading up on CT and RS and I'm really confused on the difference. She has a dr appt on Monday afternoon, so I guess I will find out more then. She's due to get spayed very soon and I don't want to get that done w/o knowing about this first.

I am a huge worry wart and I pray that I'm just being paranoid and that she is fine :(

Iam going thru thru the same excate thing with molly, Iam taking her in on mon at 930, she only does it a few times a day and sometimes not at all, its when she drinks or gets excited, she snorts and hacks like she cant breath right, this just started last week, i have been reading up on ct & rs.... its hard to understand the diffrence, will pray for you both,

Piper does the reverse sneezing when he gets excited. I pray your baby will be ok.

I am so sorry you guys are going through this too! It is just too scary :( I am trying so hard to understand the difference between the two different issues.

Please let me know how little Molly does on Monday morning, ok?
