Started raw this morning This morning I started the raw diet for all my animals. My 3 yr old lab ate it with no problem, so did my kitten. My yorkie looked at it, sniffed it and walked away. She wanted nothing to do with it. She has never been a picky eater. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get her to eat it? |
Mine eat raw. If she doesn't eat just give it time. When she gets hungry she'll eat. Don't give her any treats until she starts eating again. Are you going totally raw or are you doing premade raw? I just got a new puppy and started her on raw immediately. I took her to the Vet first and talked to him about it. He said that it would be fine. I use the pre-made, which is very soft when thawed, and she eats like it's going out of style. I would just give it time if I were you. Good luck and keep us posted!! |
I am using the NV medallions and patties (for my larger dog). I tried a little bit on my finger and she still wanted no part of it. |
There are several people here, who feed pre-packaged NV. I'm sure someone will be along, soon with more tips. I feed a prey model diet. |
What flavor are you using? My Wylie will eat ANY of the medallions. But Marcel, of course, turned his nose up at venison and then rabbit. I then bought some lamb and he LOVES it! You may have to buy some other meats to see which one floats his boat. :D |
Try putting some into the mouth...when we have calves like that...we squirt some milk into their mouths, once tasting, most will began nursing. |
I had the same problem going to raw and my little one was not a picky eater too. I tried to hand feed him after he did not eat it the first morning. He didn't eat much. He is now eating it fine once I switched from butchered meat to pre-mad frozen like Nature's Variety. I was giving him chicken and tried giving him lamb a few nights ago and he would not touch it. Back to the drawing boards. |

i personally do not like the chicken flavor. morgan isn't too fond of it either, she eats it but not with the gusto she eats the other proteins. Plus it gave her anal gland problems. try venison or lamb |
