Spay at Christmas?? I'm so torn on what to do..... My sweetie is due for her spaying around Christmas. My vet is available on the 20th to do the surgery. I'm nervous about doing her surgery so close to Christmas. Do you think she would feel better by then? Is 5 days enough to recover? I would wait to do it, but I'm a full time student and this may be the only time I could be with her around the clock. Otherwise I'll have to wait until school starts up and she'll be alone during parts of the day. |
She will be feeling better after 5 days, you just won't be able to give her a bath for I think about 10 days. |
We just got our female spayed this last Monday and I was a nervous wreck. She's 3 years old so from what I hear it’s harder on them when they are a little older like that. But she is already back to her normal self. Monday evening she was miserable, Tuesday morning she had shown a lot of improvement but still lazy-like and today you would only know because of the stitches. We had them do laser surgery which supposedly speeds us the healing time but even if your doing it the normal way, 5 days should be enough time I would think. Good luck. |
My Gracie was 6 months when she was spayed. She was back to her old self by the day after I brought her home. I could not keep her quiet. I'm sure your baby will be fine in 5 days, just give her a bath before the spay. |
She may not be 100% after five days but she should be close to it. I think it would be an excellent time to do it because you will be home. |
I had 2 girls spayed and after 2 days they were back to their little devil selves. |
i'm glad you posted this! barbie has an appt. to be spayed on the 18th which is when she'll be 6 months and i'm also thinking about rescheduling.. more so due to finances during the holidays. it wouldn't do harm to wait another month would it? |
Sam had 2 hard days and 1 OK day and then she was fine. I would do it then if you will be home. My only concern would be to make sure the vet is available in case there is an emergency the day or two after like a reaction to medicine or stitches that come out. Also, if you wait you risk her going into heat. You have to wait 8 weeks after a heat to spay. |
