Honey for 11 wk old? Do you think giving her honey mixed with her food will cause her to have soft (very soft) poop? I was mixing it in with her food just to be sure she dosent get sick from low sugar. Plus all she does is potty in her cage, while she is alone! If someone is there she waits till we leave! I have been taking her outside almost every hour and she still does NOTHING out there.........patience, patience, right? |

I wouldn't be feeding her honey regularly. ONLY if you feel she's hypoglycemic. |
It's not to feed honey on a regular basis. It could in fact cause her to crash. It's only needed when you feel she really needs it. How long is she crated. If your taking her out every hour maybe you need to keep her out there for a longer amount of time. I know it's hard just standing there, but it might be worth the wait. I had to do that with Sebastian when I first got him. Now he goes all by himself. |
just keep trying  |
I remember when we first got Daisy, we had to mix sugar into her water to prevent hpoglycemia...maybe sugar water would be a better choice. Honey is thick, it might cause choking..also it's super high in sugar (since it's concentrated & compact). I'm really not sure about this. Maybe someone else can help.. |
Personally, I'd drop the honey and pick up some Nutrical puppy. And then IF she doesn't eat give her a dab of that. |

I have an 11 week old too and so far I haven't given her anything because she eats well. I keep the Nutrical on hand just in case. Good luck with your puppy. |
Nutrical is way better than honey... Honey, despite of tasting sweet, has low pH (it means it's acid) and can cause gastritis if consumed too often...:animal-pa |
As long as she is eating regularly, you do NOT need to be mixing honey in her food. Sugar should only be given to them if they will not eat and are becoming hypoglycemic. You can really mess up her blood glucose levels by constantly giving her honey every day when she doesn't need it. |
Thanks! No more honey for my honey! |
Welcome to YT!! |
I give mine a mini marshmellow after long play, trip to vet or grooming. |
