Should his testicles have dropped by now? I have a small male yorkie (only 2.5 lbs) that will be six months old tomorrow. His testicles have not yet shown up. Is this something to worry about? My vet indicated that its not a problem and his brother has the same issue. When should I expect them? |
I would wait until a year before I would get too worried. Yes, in most males they should have dropped by now, but some are late bloomers and take longer. Late droppers and non-descending is more common with the smaller Yorkies. I also have a 2.5lb male...his didn't drop until well after a year-14 mo for one and 16 for the other. It can (and most commonly is) genetic, so you need to check to see if there is any history of it in his family tree.:) |
Jesse only ever had one drop. The second had to be removed through an incision in his abdomen. |
i though t that only happen in cats... what causes this to occur other than genetic or is it only genetic? |
I hope all works out for you, but I wouldn't worry at this early age. He has time for them to drop. Each dog is different. |

My vet said that only one testicle dropping is a normal anomoly in males of every species. |
