Yelped After Injection !!!!!!! MY 8 WEEK OLD YORKIE PUP HAD HER FIRST INJECTION THURSDAY JUST GONE THING IS THE VET LOOKED ABOUT 12, SHE DID SEEM CONFIDENT GAVE HER A FULL EXAMINATION, THEN SHE INJECTED HER, MY PUP GAVE OUT THIS REALLY WEIRD YELP, WHEN I TOLD MY FRIENDS IN WORK THEY SAID THERE DOGS DIDNT YELP AND ONE OF THE GIRLS GOT ME WORRIED BY SAYING THE VET MIGHT OF BEEN INEXPERIENCED AND SHE MIGHT OF CHIPPED A BONE, I AM NOW WORRIED THAT WHEN SHE GOES BACK IN TWO WEEKS SHE WILL BE SCARED STIFF...ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GRATEFUL.....  |
I'm sure your puppy is fine. Some dogs don't seem to notice the injections at all and some scream like you are killing them. I guess some dogs feel more pain than others or can handle more pain than others. And just because your vet is young doesn't mean she doesn't know what she's doing |

its okay my baby girl yelped and peed on the nurse boy who was holding her!! the doctor said some yelp because the vaccine is cold and uncomfortable for them!! |
It should be fine. My Lana got her 4th shot today and she screamed bloody murder, agian. She goes back just fine too. I wasn't worried when Lana carried on since Tank was that way too. |
Koda screams bloody murder to when he gets his shots. All I can do is stand there and try to hold back the tears, just like w/ my skin babies. I hate to see them in pain :( But sadly it's a fact of life, we just have to deal w/ it :) |
Hi Thanks for your all help and advice everyone, feel a bit better now, mind you am not taking her next time, i booked the appointment around my hubby so he's going to go through it...... ....... |
You sound like me. When the going gets tough it goes to my hubby. LOL |
Each dog is different -- Archie squeeled a little when he got his first shots byt since then doesn't make a sound when he gets shots. I had a toy poodle once who, on his first vaccination, gave out a yelp like you describe. Your pup is just a baby and shots hurt. I'm sure he's OK! |
