just a tiny bit of honey and ice cream.. |
Put this in the health or emergency forum and you will get help. Lots of the members have tiny yorkies but there are not many up this early on Sunday. This is what I know: Hypoglycemia from the book head to toe yorkies that is like my bible What you will see in erms of symptoms in your yorkie is listlessness a limp body attitude, inability to walk , loose stools. This is because the dog has literally run out of fuel. There is nothing left in the body to process and to use as energy. The best thing to do thing that you can do is feed the dog something that will help and not upset him more. Plain steamed or cooked rise. Also boil some chicken and feed the yorkie that. In the baby food dept in the grocery store....chicken sticks would help and not upset him further. Call an emergency vet and get their opinion and get and get their hrs but do this immediately. |
Do you have Nutrical in the house?? That would offset the high level of insulin. Have lots of water available. |
that was steamed rice ....typo |
no i dont have nutracal |
Where Can I get it????? |
Well then read my other two posts. The food I mentioned will take the place of the nutrical but don't feed other foods. Call the emergency vet and see what they say. My yorkie is over 6 lbs and I never had this problem |
thanks i am boiling chicken now |

Good luck and hope your baby feels better soon! |
Good then cut it in very tiny pieces and make sure there are no bones. Are you alone there?? If you have some white rice throw it in the same water after the chichen has boiled at least a half hour. You are doing fine and I'm quite sure this will help. Wish there were more on here that have had this happen but I trust this book with my dog's life. |
thank you thank you thank you!!! Yes I am alone my fiance left for Florida Early This morning!! Diesel is walking around, licking on some ice cubes! I did call the emergency vet and they said his symptoms are to general and just to watch him! He stopped shivering! I am very gun shy, I lost my Meah about 3 months ago very suddenly and tragicly so I am kind of a worrier! SORRY BUT THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THE HELP! |
I posted the link to this thread in the "emergency" forum so others see it if anyone is around. It says 6 are there but they could be ones with problems too. I'll stick around and just keep your baby warm while the chicken boils and I'm praying all will be fine. Hugs, Joan |
you are so sweet thank you!!!!! |
Once he has some chicken, I think you will see even more of a change but I would keep a close eye on him today. You were right to worry since this can be very serious. I was glad to help. :heart to |
Hi, Just keep an eagle on on this little one and watch for any changes in behavior, eating habits, etc. My little one, Gina, has worms. I got her as a puppy. She is 1lb, 4oz. The doctor ran a complete set of tests on her in a professional lab. No inhouse tests. He sent her blood test out to another lab in Torrance, Ca. I give one dose in the morning, and another at night before she goes to bed. I keep her medicine refrigerated.:) |

That was happening to my yogi, he wouldnt eat anything. so i went to the store in the baby area and got him baby food. try getting something with chicken. i got him chicken noodles, he loved it and it got his energy up, just try to read he ingredients cuz i heard somewhere that onion powder can be bad...always check the yorkie bad foods list before feeding them human food, also pedialite with help if yur yorkie has the runs, keeps them hydrated really well. i think this is one of the times that you actually do want to baby your dog. we would cuddle yogi for most of the day in a warm blanket that you wouldnt mind getting yucky in case he pukes or poops on it. another thing is to make sure you brush your yorkies teeth twice a day when they are sick, many people dont think about it but bacteria festers in their mouths when not brushed properly and could attribute to further problems. try going a week without brushing your own teeth and i gurantee you catch somekind of illness. And as always call your vet. I hope this helps, and im pretty sure im a day late and a dollar short on this but this is what i do when my yogi gets the shakes and becomes sick. |
