Fix a yorkies broken leg Could someone tell me if they've ever experienced a broken leg with one of their yorkies. My beautiful yorkie broke her leg on 8/13/07 & it's yet to be properly fixed. She's on her third surgery, has lost two toes, & main paw pad, but has the most beautiful spirit throughout this whole nightmare. I will not let them take her leg until it's absolutely necessary, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a surgeon in So. Calif. that works with yorkies. I supposedly have one of the best surgeons in Orange County, CA., but I have yet to see my yorkie walk on all four legs. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
Hi welcome to YT. A few people here have had yorkies with broken legs. Personally, i am a vet tech who works with an orthopedic surgeon so i see broken legs every day. Which bone did yours break? And how did she manage to lose two toes and a pad during the surgeries? Why does she keep needing surgery? is she rebreaking it at home or are they not fixing it properly? |
I am so sorry I have no advice. I just wanted to tell you Welcome to YT I am sure you will find your answers here.. |
I'm so sorry to hear about your poor baby. Yorkies do have the strongest spirits. I wish that I had answers for you, but I know that someone on here will. Welcome to YT, you will love it here. Keep us posted on how your little girl does. |
Welcome to YT - I am so sorry that you are going thru this right now. pepe mint might be someone good to talk to. Her little Maggie broke her leg, and they thought at one time it might not be right. Everything turned out well for her. And there are a couple of members that have a rescue in Colorado and they are currently going thru this with a yorkie they are trying to help. Maybe someone knows a specialist or a University vet program near you. I hope you stick around and let us know how this furbaby is doing. This is a great community filled with fun, knowledgeable people - and some really cute yorkies ;) |
