Two days on Raw... And Bella loves it! I started her on the Stella and Chewys' Freeze Dried, 1/2 patty/meal and she is gobbling up her food. The kibbles are staying in her bowl untouched. She looks so happy and satisfied after her meals I know there won't be any going back to canned or dry! I plan on leaving dry kibble out for her to snack on still (right now it is Evo), can anyone tell me how long it is safe in a bowl at room temperature? |

Hi! Glad your pup is enjoying raw. I've never used stella and chewy's freeze dried. how big are the patties? NV has patties that are 3oz and medallions that are 1oz. I give 2-3oz per day for a 4.5lb dog. I also do not leave kibble out because she won't eat it anymore. I wouldn't leave the freeze dried out for more then a half hour. Kibble can be left out all day if you wish tho if she is eating the raw then you really don't have to leave kibble out at all. |

max i would leave kibble in a bowl is two days, then i'd throw it out. but like i said you don't even need to leave it out anymore. :) |

Good for you! I started my little one on the raw about 8 months ago and was able to slim her down quite quickly (she was getting chunky on the kibble) and she loves it. She only gets 2 medallions a day (one in am and one in pm) and she gobbles them up so no worries of them sitting out and getting bacteria on them. If your pup is only eating the raw and seems to be doing well on it, then I would discontinue the kibble completely. I switched Bianca from kibble to raw this way over a week's time - only kibble in am and then only raw at night. She never had any loose bowels or problems with that way. |

No worry about leaving the raw out--it is inhaled in less than a minute, lol. This evening when we came home she was jumping up and barking, waiting in the kitchen for me to prepare her food. That has NEVER happened before! It is so fun to see her enjoying her food. I don't know the weight of the individual patties, but I feed her half a patty in the morning, the other half in the evening, she weighs 4 pounds, and the bag says 2 pattys for every 10 pounds of dog. I was planning to continue feeding her kibble and also add some canned food but why bother, right now I have one very happy girl! |

Here is the recommendation from S&C's Website: Feeding Guidelines Recommended daily portion, by body weight. Feed puppies and lactating females 2-3 times more. 1.5 oz. STEAKS 10 lbs. 3 steaks 20 lbs. 5 steaks 40 lbs. 9 steaks 60 lbs. 12 steaks 8 oz. STEAKS 25 lbs. 1 steak 50 lbs. 2 steaks 80 lbs. 3 steaks 110 lbs. 4 steaks |

Is it a lot more expensive to feed raw over kibble. |

Yes, the raw food may be more expensive than kibble, but if it results in better health it will be a savings in vet bills in the long run. Trust me, I know all about vet bills for these little ones! I am also thinking about looking into the Honest Kitchen pre-mix, that you mix with your own meat, as an adjunct to the FD raw. Anyone use Honest Kitchen? |

Kalina- My puppy just turned 4 months old and is 4lbs. He is pretty energetic. I tried giving him 1 S&C's Medallion (1.5 oz) and he was hungry for more so I gave him another half of a medallion, still wanted more, just put the rest (2 medallions=3 oz), seemed to be content. So far I am putting 2 medallion (3 oz) at each meal, breakfast and lunch. He gets little ( I mean little) snacks when I try to train him and a Bully Jr. Is this too much? |

my dog would love to eat as much as she wanted too but i don't let her. she gets 2oz in the AM and 1oz in the PM. granted she's an adult and not a puppy. yours should be getting alittle more then mine because she's growing but i think 6oz is too much. i guess you could monitor her and if you think she's getting a little chubby (can't feel ribs) then cut back an oz. |
